What gives?  We've been picking on them with jokes all week, no replies, no "we're going to show them attitude".  Nothing.  I think Simpson is the new Cornell.  Makes me wonder how long Coach G will be around.  Any speculation?

I think Coach Glo will be fine,  mine has moved on so not chasing Storm as closely this year but it appears they are trying to groom the youngsters for the future.  As often happens the entirely new staff took a bit of a recruiting hit especially that first year.  Upper classman representation is pretty thin this year so lots of newbies seeing more time than would normally be expected. My son loved playing for Glo and the passion will return but you have to have the horses (3 year olds and up) in the barn - still running too many yearlings.

Hey Storm..   Your son must be the exception when it comes to coach Glo cause I have heard that a bunch of the guys from last years team and this years upper upperclassman (non-Glo recruits) aren't big fans of him.  I was told that he and the rest of his staff won't acknowledge kids that he hasn't recruited and that they shouldn't expect to see the field much.  I don't think he realizes that at the D3 level the upperclassman are a big part of the recruiting process and they aren't going to help recruit kids if they don't like the coach.  Sure he is brining in a ton of kids and numbers are great but you can't make chicken soup out of chicken sh*t.  Also, I think it is funny that the best year Glo has had was his first year when the team was all kids that Neiman recruited.  I guess we will see what happens....

Happy B-day Heys.  Does that make fiddy one???
I've been out of school for 5 years. Please don't assign any homework;D

Since you are a Cornell grad...you get 3 1/2 weeks to view the video, with no other assignments to get in your way ;)

The problem is you are not playing Nathan Trimble.  #40 in your program #1 in our Little Hawk hearts.  This goes for any losing team not playing Little Hawks from I.C. City High.

Yes, coach Glo's best season so far was with Niemann's guys. Everyone knew he (Niemann) would probably have one more decent year (the year after he was fired), but they were struggling to get recruits in his final few years and it showed.  Other than that senior class, the cupboard was bare. Now, other than watching on Saturdays, I'm not around the program, but I don't know if it's as much "grooming" as there really aren't upperclassmen that are better.  And it's pretty easy for an upperclassman to say, "well, I didn't get recruited by him, so that's why I'm not playing." Maybe you just aren't better than the freshman.

Here's what I find encouraging.  The starting freshman QB is a Valley grad, the starting freshman RB is an Indianola grad. I'm seeing more CIML kids in the past few years.  Yes, they are very young. The two leading rushers are a FR and SO, respectively. The leading WR is a FR. And the next four are SOs with the exception of one JR.  The top five tacklers are three SOs and two JRs.

Just my two cents.

SC -  I would tend to agree with you,  it appears they are doing a better job of recruiting at the 3A- 4A level - sorry don't mean to offend those from smaller schools but there is a big speed / size difference between classes and that really shows up when kids move to the college game.   Another factor that IMO played a role in recruiting decline at end of previous staffs reign was the loss of Clint Head (I think he went to be O- coordinator at Hasting College)  he was a recruiting demon and had a passion for Simpson but career opportunity drew him away.
Did it seem Wart Trainer has a ax to grind with Glo - We know most of last years seniors and to a man - guys that actually saw playing time loved the passion Glo brought to Simpson   Guys who don't see the field and complain about the coach usually are want-a-be's, whiners or simply not realistic about their talents.

Yes Glo's first year has been his best at 7 & 3  but Niemann had a losing record with basically the same players so that sword can cut both ways.

Look at that, 5 words or less actually stated something in five words or less, with some helpful combined words that is.   :D

AZD, met your wife this morning.  What a pleasure that was.  She is as kind as she is drop dead gorgeous.  Eat your hearts out guys, AZD has a HOT wife!  I bet your son's friends were all anxious to meet her, particularly as she baked brownies for hiim and his friends.  I can't believe she is old enough to have kids in and out of college.  I was looking for her at the game Monday night, but I think I mistook her for a college student!

She's not my type,  ;) ;) ;), but ooh la la!   :D :D :D

I appreciate the kind words or I should say that she does. I do have to admit that it took some ingenuity to get her to marry me. Some people are rude and call it trickery. I told her that the church was having a wedding dress fashion show and that the money was going to underprivileged kids. So I waited until the priest was standing in front of us and I leaned over and whispered into her ear....Do you like the idea of doing another charity event for the Special Olympics? and she said, Yes I Do! The rest is history....

Just finished the IIAC Season with NCAA 11 on PS3...it's wild...Cornell won the IIAC.    :D

I know that stores are really strict about returning games when the shipping plastic has been removed, but I'm sure if you share with them that Cornell won the IIAC when playing the game that they'll surely know that the game is broke.  :o :o

and yes, very awkward...

doolittledog

This is Glo's 3rd year.  He now has recruits that are juniors.  I agree he did a better job with Niemans kids that 1st year than Nieman had done.  But since then, it has looked like it is going all down hill.

I like the idea that Simpson is going after big school kids.  That is an area that has been largely untapped by the IIAC schools.  BUT, a kid still has to have talent.  Just because he went to a big school, doesn't necessarily make him a great football player.  It's all about finding talent, wherever that talent may be.

Klompen

Awkward, huh?  Well, guess it is time to let the cat out of the bag.  I don't think AZD found it so awkward since the opinion is coming from a woman.  It is just a well deserved compliment on having a beautiful wife.  But I could see where it would be awkward if I were a man.   ;D

Geez, now I know what "coming out" must feel like.   :D :D :D
