Since it's Thursday night already, I feel safe to say this must be the quietest Coe/Wartburg week ever.

I think it has to do with the present situation:

Though both teams are undefeated, Coe is heavily favored and the Wartburg faithful know it.  Knight fans, while cautiously optimistic, understand a Wartburg victory would be viewed as an upset of epic proportions.  This results in fans not being very boisterous.  Coe fans on the other hand are almost looking at this as a sure thing.  After all they have already defeated the conference favorite and the Knights should be a mere annoyance similar to a gnat.  Yet, there is that little lingering doubt and should the unimaginable happen it would be tough eating crow for the next few weeks.  This also results in a somewhat subdued atmosphere here on the board.  Basically everyone is trying to avoid spreading bad karma on their favorite team.  I guess instead of playing it out here on a discussion board, we'll let the kids settle it Saturday afternnon.

Trust me.  That is far from the truth.  It's Coe-Wartburg.  Anything can happen.

The Central Dutch doesn't have a mascot? What's with that? :(
Big Red the dino hasn't been around since the suit wore out and they didn't buy a new one.
Maybe we can get this guy

I would rather go with that I never mentioned it!  ::)

What were you doing to this poor dino? We've heard about what happens to the sheep up there, but the dino?  :o

Which schools do have a mascot???

Dubuque has Sparty.

I have have seen someone in a Ram costume at Cornell games.

I'm pretty sure I remember some type of purple hawk type thing at some Loras games...but that was a number of years ago and I was usually a bit under the influence of some type of alcohol by the time I would make it to a Loras game.

I have no other memories of seeing mascots at games.

I was looking at this as one of the biggest games of the season. I was even thinking of splitting the screen and watching both games, but...
The pitchforks are being gathered, Coe fans are going to the Iowa game and no garden tools are being allowed??  :-\

as well as if the Coe folks have any suggestions on where to catch the 2nd half of the Hawkeye game after the Kohawks shut the door with a Boyle 1 yd TD to go up 28-10

There are about 5 bars around Coe - most have deals during Iowa games, plus the newly added field house(s) - one by buffalo wild wings on blairs ferry and one down town across from bricks on 2nd ave se

Been to the Fieldhouse before.  Only issue there is that it will probably be super packed by the time the Wartburg game wraps up.

I would go to Paddy O'Rourkes.  Just a block down from K. Ray field on E Ave.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Go Kohawks this weekend.

I won't be able to make it.  Caliram and I have to take care of the other team from Waverly on the pitch.

Hit'em hard!

Awkward, huh?  Well, guess it is time to let the cat out of the bag.  I don't think AZD found it so awkward since the opinion is coming from a woman.  It is just a well deserved compliment on having a beautiful wife.  But I could see where it would be awkward if I were a man.   ;D

Geez, now I know what "coming out" must feel like.   :D :D :D
From now on you will only get 85% of the karma that a man would get and All Region will be your "glass ceiling."
I don't agree, look at DF1 Karma, I think women should be able to get higher karma scores.  Particularly from all you guys that didn't realize immediately that I had to be a woman.  I mean, what guy posting regularly on a football board for years says they NEVER played football?  Even if they went to a school like Pella Christian that didn't have football for years, I bet somewhere they tried it.

That is awesome! Never would have expected it!!
Thanks, Willie!  I wanted to gain a little respect on the board before letting everyone know.  I have followed the sport for years, watching Vern Den Herder suit up as a Dutchman before a Dolphin.  Of course, I thought he was a great basketball player too, particularly since at that age I understood basketball more.  There was a lot of pride in watching a former Dutchman play in 4 Super Bowls, particularly his first 3 years out of college.  Talk about being in the right place at the right time.  Anyway, I have been a Central fan for longer than many of you have been alive and I will always bleed red and be proud of it.

Well, it's like this.  We used to have a red dinosaur that looks like a Big Red Barney, it was hot and falling apart, so they did away with it.  They then went with a Dutch mascot that probably looked like a muscled version of the Dutch Boy paints logo.  That wasn't politically correct because it was blond haired and blue eyed, so  we just did without.  Now why, in a town loaded with wooden shoes and Dutch costumes on moth balls 362 days a year they can't put any cheerleader of any nationality in a costume is beyond me, but that is how it is.  I guess that wouldn't be big enough by mascot standards.

Coe has a mascot.  I now know way a Kohawk looks like.  It's ugly.   :D

Good luck to Coe this weekend.

The week end starts with Friday Night high school football...

Have you heard of a team losing all 3 of their quarterbacks lately?
Well, we have. During the walk through yesterday our back up quarterback fractured his ankle?
The back up to the back up was the one that broke his leg last game. He was the one that we pulled up from the JV.
Now we're going to be using the back up from the JV. Should be an interesting game.  :P
