Congratulations to Central's Jake Viggers for finishing the season with a perfect 44-44 extra point kicks this season.  Way to go, Jake!

Since we've only got a week of the regular season left, I thought I'd throw two questions out there.  What are your thoughts?

1. Wartburg is in the playoffs.  Thoughts on Coe getting in at this point?  Who will each of them play in the first round?

2. Who is your MVP and Coach of the Year?

1. I have no idea of the math going on right now as far as the playoffs.  I hope Coe becomes the 2nd IIAC team in the playoffs this year.  Especially nice to have the 2 closest IIAC schools to my house in the playoffs...if my Spartans can't make it.

2.  I have no idea for MVP...there hasn't been a ton of talk on here...and I can't think of anyone out there that has just blown up statistics wise this year.  COY...give it to Willis.  I think Staker won last year and for some reason, the Wartburg coach never seems to win it in years Warty wins the conference.  Which means...Durnin at Luther will probably win for going 6-4 ;D

I don't see how Willis doesn't get COY. Weren't the Knights picked for third? No way its McMartin after 2 losses. I suppose a small argument could be made for Staker. Luther is the only other conf team that will finish over .500.
MVP Should probably Boyle, unless coaches feel he set the bar too high last year. Snead another option there. After what I saw yesterday, although there's usually offensive love for the MVP, I couldn't argue with a SHane Wong vote.
Just for being a LINEMAN going both ways, I vote for Jon Orr

My vote would be for Blake Suckow. Always a critical play when one was needed. As far as stats, let's just say on his tackles, he's on the bottom of the pile and not the top. ;)

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

1.  I'd like to see Coe make it just so the IIAC has two representatives, not because I particularly like Coe.  But I'm not too good at this whole math thing, so who knows what the odds of that happening are.

2.  I think Boyle will win the MVP.  He has demonstrated himself to be instrumental in Coe's success and has the numbers to boot.  I suppose can argument maybe can be made for McGivney, but it's not going to happen.  I don't see how Willis doesn't win COY.  I suppose if Warty loses this week, it could shake things up a bit.  Outside of that, don't see anyone else winning it.

Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

1.) I don't know about Coe's chances of getting invited to the dance. Does anyone feel that their non-con schedule may hurt them? Historically, the committee tends to place more emphasis on like-D3 scheduling. The SOS is easier to figure when you play like opponents.

2.) I think the MVP goes to Viggers for never missing a PAT. (What, did you think I would award it to someone at the W? ;) ) COY should go to Willis, which means it will likely go to someone else in the conference.

I'm sure Viggers would have exchanged a couple of those PAT's for a field goal on Saturday.

Re: Coe's chances of getting in given their non-conference schedule ...

Iowa Wesleyan is 3-7 with one game remaining ... Olivet Nazarene is 0-10 with one to go.  I don't think that helps Coe's strength-of-schedule, especially with two NAIA schools.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Doesn't matter if they are 0-10 or 10-0, NAIA games aren't factored into the equation.

I think this year's voting should be pretty easy for IIAC awards with Boyle repeating as POY and Willis at COY.

ShowMe,

If you can read this, please come out of hiding for Coe-Cornell week.  ;D

You are correct as far as SOS goes, but when the commitee votes they may feel differently about the opponents chosen.  Having said that I think they get the nod for a Pool C bid. I also can see a MIAC/IIAC bracket where Wartburg hosts the MIAC runner up and the IIAC runnerup (Coe goes to St Thomas if Coes wins at Cornell which is no given.

COY Willis should win hands down if they win Saturday going 10-0 in the IIAC is no easy task and given that Wartburg was picked by many as the third dog in the fight for #1 he bettered the expectations of most everyone.

MVP Boyle has had a good year but I might go with a devensive MVP this year I would like to see Suckow or Wong be in the mix as well as some have mentioned.  Snead has earned mention but I think Wartburgs QB desreves just as much mention as Snead and Boyle.  He may not have the flashy numbers but he didn't do things to lose his teams games either. To be fair if you are going with a defensive player that LB from Luther deserves mention as well. Sorry but I don't recall the Knights QB name or the LB from Luther but their names should also be on the ballot.  Whether they win or not they deserve consideration.

Congrats to the Knights they seemed to want it more.  Not that the Dutch didn't play hard but the Knights just flat out made the plays.  The fumble returned to the 8 the blocked punt to the 3 and the long drive in the 4th to go ahead were the keys and showed that the Knights wanted the game.  I agree to a point about what Klompen said.  The Dutch won everywhere but where it counted.  I know how that feels to win that way.  A sign of a really good team IMHO is that you win when you aren't winning the stats.  A team that finds a way to win is a sign of a good team and that is what the Knights were today.  If you Knights fan have some room on the bandwagon I am up for a ride on it till you guys win it all or until you lose in the playoffs if you'll have me.  Good luck next week and in the playoffs.  If you get a home game I will venture up to Waverly and cheer you on.

I always assumed you were on the bandwagon, but just had a little split loyalties.  Come on, we all know you have a few Wartburg shirts in your closet.  They may say "Wartburg Tennis" on the  front, but what the heck they're orange.

Well you are right I have always and will always support Wartburg College just not always the football program.  Hoping they win out so I can come to the palyoff game in Waverly.  I am sure son #2 will want text updates as the game progresses.
