please come out of hiding for Coe-Cornell week.  ;D

I'll see you there Cali.  We have some recruiting to do after the Coe - Cornell game.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Cornell being in the MWC and the possible 5 year record with 50 games I think they can win maybe 20 at most.  I think doolittles prediction about only being 1-34 with Grinnell on the list is a little low.  I also think Brautigan will be able to pull some upsets off in the last two years of that 5 year stretch and may even go 5-5 those years.  3 years of 3-7 and two years of 5-5 put them at 19-31.  I think if Cornell goes to the MWC they have abandoned Iowa as a recruiting base.  Not that they ever had a large Iowa contingent on their team but having 90% of their opponents out of state I don't think there will be much name recognition for the recruits in Iowa.  The recruits have heard of Central, Wartburg, Coe, and the other Iowa colleges but how do you go into a kids home in Southwest Iowa and say we play St Norberts.  They say WHO? Just my two cents on the subject but I trust that Coach B will improve the Rams I just don't know how much they will improve.

Since we've only got a week of the regular season left, I thought I'd throw two questions out there.  What are your thoughts?

1. Wartburg is in the playoffs.  Thoughts on Coe getting in at this point?  Who will each of them play in the first round?

2. Who is your MVP and Coach of the Year?

1.  It seems our Willis will be the obvious choice for COY.  Difficulty is that he is not well liked among the league.
Personality conflicts?...but he has my vote.

2.  Brad Boyle is surely a contender for MVP...but you have to consider Kyle McGivney (sp?) from Luther.  He established the DIII most tackles award and could go to 200 if he has a good game against Loras.
My Distant Cousin saw the DUB game and said he was all over the field again.

Boyle is also in a class by himself as a QB.......but it is time to award a defensive player.  MCGivney.!!

As quoted from Dutchfan1 on the NWC board:

"My playoff loyalty goes something like this: Central, then Linfield, then the IIAC rep (if it's not Central), then anyone playing SJU."

Ouch DF1, that hurts.

In D2 news:

Minnesota-Duluth led by former Wartburg head coach, Bob Nielsen, is now leading the D2 poll after Grand Valley State (Wartburg North) led by former Wartburg assistant coach, Matt Mitchell, lost a game.

I'll be in Chicago this weekend for a friend's bachelor party. I'll have to settle for Bulls v Wizards instead of Coe v Cornell.

And in other recruiting news.  The guy in the office next to mine reports Coe scouts were present at the UNI Dome last friday for the North Tama/Mason City Newman game.  They were looking at 2 North Tama kids.  I am told they have no chance on the first kid because his parents are Wartburg grads.  The 2nd kid, this mans grandson, is interested in Coe.

So there you go.

Sorry -- I've always had a special place in my heart for Linfield. If Linfield doesn't play Wartburg, I'm orange all the way.

I think our seating section is right behind Courtside and Main Floor seats.

This has been talked about for a while at Cornell. It will be nice when they finally get some stuff started and finished.

I'm sure those Midwest Conference schools will enjoy playing on a new surface.

I understand a trophy was presented to the Wartburg football team last Saturday?

I realize the Knights have a guaranteed share of the title, but Coe has a chance to be conference co-champions with a combination of a Kohawk victory and a Knight loss this weekend.  It just seems it would be more respectful of all the teams involved to wait until everything is in the books before they start handing out hardware.

Last year Central received their trophy after the game with Wartburg in Waverly, but their regular season was over.

I for one would add that to my list of things that would make me mad if I were a Simpson football player.  There are too darned many bad karma things adding up.  The Knights better come prepared to play four quarters of errorless football on Saturday.  If they don't, the Simpson team may come over to the Wartburg sidelines after the game and carver to letters C-O in front of the word CHAMPION on the trophy the Knights got last Saturday.
