I apologize to anyone I offended by my posts indicating I thought it would be polite to wait handing out conference championship trophies until all the possible combinations of champions were decided.

So...in a couple of years, the following scenario is possible (maybe not plausible, but...)

Cornell and the 'Hacks keep their rivalry intact which the 'Hacks win the 2014 game 56-3

Cornell wins the MWC, goes to the 2014 dance.  Coe, due to IIAC losses stays home.

I might actually like this MWC thing, if only for the cacophony of the 'Hacks Nation should that one day play out.   ;D

My question is this: does the IIAC board retain the rights to PH when this all shakes out?  ;D

Personally, I agree with you. The season isn't over yet. The trophies shouldn't be in the trophy case, and the awards shouldn't be handed out until the regular season is in the books.

We have this discussion every year -- usually about the time DF04 brings up playoff talk in September. If you take care of business during the regular season, the awards, the playoff talk, and everything else will take care of itself. The idea is to focus on the game you are playing that week.

Man, I'm old school....

That brings up the question: Why was the trophy there in the first place? I'm sure the conference had it there knowing that it was going to be awarded to someone. Who was the conference representitive?
Sorry, that was two questions.

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I'd tell you to call my agent but Cam Newton's dad, Cecil, has been pretty busy of late... :D

Looking at the regional rankings and reading my "tea leaves" I must conclude there is a good chance for an IIAC vs. MIAC bracket with UW-W, MWChamp, Cal Lu, and Linfield the other side of the bracket.

I'd love to see Coe play St. Thomas.

Better take care of Cornell first!

Looks like it will be cold enough for the letter jacket.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

^ I'd actually argue that if it stayed this way, UWW gets moved North. No way they don't get a #1 seed, but if the fourth #1 comes down to a #1 west UST and a #2 north NCC, then I think UST gets the nod.

The real question them becomes, who is the 8th team out West? Unlikely that PLU makes the field given the extra flight. Would they send a team from the North West? Or get real crazy and send UMHB West again, but that'd be a flight as well.

Interesting to say the least...& time will tell.

There are other choices besides PLU if they move UWW (and several are less crazy than UMHB).  Maybe they move in another Pool A.  Didn't the NathCon champ play in the 'West' region a year or two ago?

Plus - as much as I'd like to see PLU in the field (I played there) - I don't think they should make at-large selections based on who best rounds out the bracket(s). Select the best 3 Pool B's and the best 6 at-large's and then put them into pairings/brackets.

hazzben

^ that's what I was alluding to. It'll be interesting, and who knows if PLU can close out strong against Willamette, and a couple 1 loss teams stumble, anything could be possible.

Bottom line, the Pool C bid is as competitive as I can ever remember it being. There will be some very quality teams that get left off of the board.
