Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

fdaddy,

Is there a designated place for tailgating Sat? Thanks

wk

Tailgate will be in the parking lot across the street from the visitors side of the field. Festivities start around 10:00.

And here I was expecting to see something along the lines of "Wherever the heck us bad a$$es feel like tailgating"   ;D

DDog, that IS where us bad a$$es felt like tailgating!  ;D
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

well the pick ems come down to this week.  between me and kohawk krazy. i have a one game lead and theres a one game difference between us (loras/luther) in our picks this week.  i find it fitting that the week of the coe/cornell game, it comes down to a supporter of each team facin off in the pick ems especially given some uncertainty surrounding cornell's move to the mwc. may the best man/team win.
Terrell Owens was asked for one word to describe himself. He said "confident." When asked for another word he said "very."

Bird Dog

I've gone on the conference web site and individual schools and I can't find the score of the Cornell/Coe game anybody know

Be careful Hoover, that could get you fined if you were in the NFL!!  ;)

Good point. Let's go cleanly hit people below the helmet but above the waist.

Congrats to Wartburg on the unbeaten season. Good luck in the playoffs. Hopefully good luck to Coe as well  ???

I am impressed with Luther's strong finish, congrats as well. And thanks for beating Lorass  ;D

Central, I have come to expect success in my 20 years affiliated with this league and even though you came up short, I am sure you will be back in the hunt next year......

As will my Spartans....4-6 is not what the Spartan Nation expected but adversity builds character and character builds championship teams. Great finish to the season. 4-1 Home record with a 2 point heartbreaking loss to Coe. I hope it's a sign of great things to come at Chalmers Field.

After starting in a hole, the Spartans battled back and dominated the 2nd half led by outstanding running by Justin Spaulding. To be honest, he turned nothing into significant and drive prolonging runs all day. Tremendous effort. Also, the O-line and (3rd string to start the season) QB Levin did a great job in their roles to assist in the win. The defense came up with some big stops and did what it took to win.

It certainly was a season of ups and downs. In my opinion, the Spartans could have easily been 8-2 this year. 4 losses of less then a touchdown in the final minutes or seconds of play. I look for a hard working off season, a great recruiting class, the return of key players from injury, and a chance at a championship next year. Those freshman and soph starters will finally be soph and juniors...getting closer  ;)

It's going to be a long off seasons, at least I still have fantasy football for several more weeks  ;D

Until next season or a hot topic I can't resist...

Dear Norse - Please rectify this:

  • November 11, 2006  LOR 44 - LUT 23 ... Loss at Dubuque
  • November 10, 2007 UD 34 - LUT 31 ... Loss at Dubuque
  • November 15, 2008  LOR 34 - LUT 29 ... Loss at Dubuque
  • November 7, 2009  UD 21 - LUT 10 ... Loss at Dubuque
  • November 9, 2010  THE BUCK STOPS AT DUBUQUE!!!

Every team wants to win the last game of the season, but it would be nice for the Norse to have a 5-3 conference record going into the offseason.  Maybe the win combined with a good recruiting class and good returning players at QB and LB would give the team some momentum going into next season.

I won't read too much into any potential win though as it has been many years (1986 and 1987) since the Norse were 7-3 or better.  It was so long ago that I was a freshman in high school and Paul Hefty (Norse Head Coach from 2002-2007) was the QB.

7-3 seasons are going to be hard in Decorah until the Norse start beating St. Olaf again.  1-1 starts going into each conference season haven't led to championships or close misses.

Go Norse!

5-5 for the Norse after another split of the city of Dubuque.  Congrats to Loras.  Norse success in men's and women't X-country today is not going to make up for 4 turnovers in Dubuque.

Iowa finds another way to score 17-18 points against another Big Ten team (like Indiana) that many others are scoring 35 against.  Between that and the Norse performance today, it felt like the end of the college season for me.

Good luck to Iowa getting it together for Ohio State.  With what I have seen most of the year from the Hawks, I have serious questions about this team being 9-4 or 10-3.  Hopefully senior day means something next week and Floyd of Rosedale means something next week.  Those things mean something to me, but sometimes big senior classes don't respond when expectations are not met.  9-4 is not a bad year for the team in Iowa City.

Good luck to all IIAC teams in the playoffs!

No, it wasn't. Neither school reported a score to us so I went to the Loras site and picked off the Week 11 Luther score. Except it was from 2009.

The Iowa Conference site had Loras the winner ... 24-10.

Since I will be in Waverly today for other reasons, I might as well stop by Joe's for the DIII playoff announcements.

I am hoping for the IIAC to receive two bids today as well.

Way to go Knights!!!!
Win or lose we still booze!!
