I have been somewhat distressed by the scenerios that show Coe not being invited to the NCAA D3 playoffs.  I hope those predictions are incorrect.
Maybe yesterday's losses by #7 Hardin-Simmons, #8 Delaware Valley, and #21 DePauw will somehow change the mathematics in the Pool C calculations and Coe will get a well deserved invitation.
I found it interesting comparing the Coe and Wartburg results against their seven common opponents.  Coe outscored the other seven conference teams by 153 points, while the Wartburg's total margin of victory was 142 points.  Coe had five 20+ point wins, while Wartburg had four.  Coe had two single digit victories (Central & Dubuque) as did Wartburg (Central & Luther).  I would say these are two fairly similar teams when comparing their results against the other seven IIAC teams this season.  The October 16th Knight victory over the Kohawks is of course the main issue separating the two, but that aside I firmly believe Coe should be invited.

I agree strongly that Coe should get an invitation.  They are a very impressive team, and I was blown away by their prowess on offense.  Most years I feel one can make an argument that two IIAC teams is not justified, but this year that is not the case with Coe.

I also have to mention that I think Wartburg's achievement in going 10-0 during their 75th season and while playing both Coe and Central as away games is really impressive.  I'm biased, of course, but so is everyone else who posts on this board.

OK Knights, now you're 0-0.
Let's show Bethel that Wavery isn't Pella and send them home losers.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Who has thoughts on either the Wartburg - Bethel or Coe - Wheaton match-ups?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

First, as a third party observer (I consider myself an NCAC guy) I have a few thoughts. I think Wartburg deserved the number two seed over Wheaton. Undefeated vs. 1-loss (in which Wheaton played like blarrrrgh!) is just not even a question. I think Coe can hang with and beat Wheaton. I got the chance to watch both teams this year (ah, the power of the internet) and Coe looked pretty good and Wheaton looked terrible. Both games were against high quality opponents(Central and NCC), I think it could go either way, I think Coe is going to present some tough matchups for the Thunder.
A fan of good football - wherever it may be found.

Coe v. Wheaton:

Prolific offense versus a very good defense. Wheaton's QB was out against North Central, don't know if he's back. WC is always very well coached, they make great in-game adjustments and are the classic always find a way to win program. They've also never lost in the playoffs to a team not named Mount Union. Looks like a classic strength on strength matchup with both teams bringing in playoff experience.

Wartburg v. Bethel:

Two exceptional defenses. Bethel's forte is running the ball, controlling time of possession and making teams one dimensional offensively. Don't know much about WC's offense, what can you guys tell me. I think this one shapes up to be a very physical game.

Congrats to Wartburg and Coe and do the IIAC proud.  Theses will both be tough opponents from conferences considered to be better than the IIAC.  Both will be a battle, good luck.

I hope you don't have to play in an ice storm.  We lost to Bethel but I still believe on a dry field it may have been a different outcome.

Just a reminder to those doing the Pick 'Ems, we'll be doing all games involving IIAC schools in the playoffs.
