AZD - the old conventional wisdom in the IIAC was you couldn't recruit kids from warmer climates because they would run home once the cold weather hit.  Dubuque used to be the only conference school that didn't have about 99% of their roster from in state.  That doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

DD - I thought we figured out on here that while we each have our favorite school...all the other IIAC schools are fine institutions...except Loras, they're just a bad egg :D

Yeah, congrats WillieU, just a little advice--avoid Central. If DutchFan 1, or even KnightSlayer 101 are any sort of representation of what that school produces I would avoid it like the plague. Those two don't seem well informed on anything.
;) I'm winking but I'm sorta serious  ;)

DutDom:
Don't write such stupid crap.  dutchfan1 is probably the most rational of all posters on this site.

WillieU:  Congratulations on the next generation of Spartans.

Congrats Willie on the new daughter. I'm sure we'll find her some good competition, just so she won't have it too easy.  ;D

DF1, I don't want to give up the crown, but I don't think I can kill enough brain cells to get down to the level it now takes to keep it! ;)

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

That old conventional wisdom probably holds true now.
I'm from Chicago. I don't know what would be worse...
playing in the cold or playing in this heat?

The worse thing I remember about playing in the cold was the ground.
When the ground was uneven from when it was above freezing and then it froze over.  >:(

The NFL had a half time show, The Line of Scrimmage, about certain high schools that were playing under unique circumstances.
My sons school was chosen for the category for playing in the heat.

This video, The Coaches Speech, was a combination of all the schools that was shown at the end.

Congrats, Big Willie. :) Is she already wearing Spartain Blue, or can we send her some Central Red... you can't recruit too early, right? :)

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.

She is wearing spartan PINK at this point....I can't convince my wife to put her in anything but pink, purple, or white.

However, for one of her "newborn" pics, I did convince her to let me put her in my old UD football helmet. She looked very comfortable in there like wearing blue and white was meant to be  ;)

Willie U

PS- will having a daughter now soften me  ??? At least until she is a teenager  >:(

I think it all depends on the kid. Heys' kid and I left Oceanside, CA to play at Cornell for 4 years. I'm starting to see more AZ kids sprinkled into IIAC rosters. I will agree that it was common to see the one and done AZ kids at Cornell. I'm not entirely sure the weather was the main factor though.

Willie, if you ever wanna give her an upgrade from the plain purple and white to something with a Rams logo, let me know.  ;)

Dubuque to add competitive cheering as a varsity sport.  This will be in addition to the already announced womens La Crosse team.  Um, hmm, interesting.

I have my own thoughts on this, but I'll keep them to myself while this conversation plays out.  ;)

Dutchie soon to be lobbying Central to add competitive cheering...and then submitting her resume for HC of said team ;)

I guess I just get overly concerned over probably nothing that Dubuque is adding sports that aren't IIAC sanctioned yet.  I don't want to see UD move away from the IIAC.  Though for the men at UD, it has to be nice that Dubuque keeps adding womens sports and therefore adding to the female population of the campus ;D

Wait, competitive cheering is probably coed...I'm out of the loop on all that.

Willie University

My understanding is that Lacrosse will be an IIAC sport in the not to distant future........so UD is just planning for the future  ;)

Not sure about competitive cheerleading....I just can't wait to have a team period  ;D

Wow! Nice new low for the boards DutchDominator. DutchFan1 hasn't said anything controversial, he is a good guy and you go after him? If Wartburg turns out people like you, I feel sorry for the school.  When you suck, as much as you guys have 90% of the time, I can understand how bitter you can be...My advice to you dominator...GROW UP! oh yeah...GO BIG RED!
