IIAC picked up two national champions in D-3 track and field ... Kurtis Brondyke, Central College in the Pentathalon ... and Phillip Jones, UD, in the 55-meter dash.

UD picks up two national champions today.  Josh Terrell wins the 165lbs championship with a 6-5 decision over Nick LeClere of Coe.  Josh Terrell finishes up his UD career as a 4 time all-american.  Congrats to him and best of luck in the future.  He plans to go into sports administration with an eye towards being a college AD.  He also figures to coach wrestling somewhere along the way.  Again, congrats to a very fine young man and a great representative of UD.

A son of a friend of mine is joining the D3 football league.
It was kind of hard to go to the NLI "signing". I tried to look over to see what he was signing, but I couldn't see. I also didn't want to be rude.
...and no, It wasn't Wartburg.  :o

Nice work this weekend Kohawk wrestlers.
Especially Clayton Rush.  The cornerstone of the Kohawk wrestling team.
You will be missed next year.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

I would be remiss in my duties as chronicler of all thing Orange & Black if I didn't give a shout out to the Wartburg NCAA D3 National Champion wrestling team and the Wartburg NCAA D3 National Champion runner-up womens indoor track & field team.  Both teams were blessed to have several All-Americans, many of whom will be back on campus next season.  The women just missed their third straight track & field national championship.  They lost the title by 2 1/2 points at the meet out in Ohio this past weekend.

And at the same meet, the Central men missed a national championship by just one point with a 1, 2 finish in the pentathalon and a second in the shot put.  Which is all very nice but I still can't wait for football season.

I remember sometime in the late 1990's (before 2002 as the article mentioned) typing some posts on this postboard forseeing this change in the next decade..........call me a "believer" or call me "psychic" but it goes to show you what good leadership from the top down can do for any organization  ;) President Jeffrey Bullock developed a mission, vision, & action plan for UD in 1998 and so far, everything in it has come to reality and then some.....More to do, but the foundation has been laid.

Grandma Warthog would have been pleased to have lived long enough to see the change.

warthog, did you go to LaCrosse for the wrestling championships?  If so, how did it compare to Cedar Rapids?  The NAIA tourney just wrapped in Cedar Rapids and I had no idea it was even going on there.  Nothing in the papers that I saw.

Actually, we only got as far as Cedar Falls and Waverly.  We went up to check out the house son #1 is buying in CF.  We got in to do some measuring for flooring and window treatment.  Their existing house got sold, so things are moving forward.  In the afternoon both families got together so Mrs. Warthog and I could have some serious grandparent time.
