With limited recruiting budgets for D3.  How much do schools utilize parents in the recruiting process?  If you have a son playing at an IIAC school, does that coach use you to help recruit a younger kid playing high school football from your sons old school?  Or does the coach just rely on his and his assistants to bring the kid in...and your schools finantial aid department???

I just got done watching the trailer for the D3 movie from the front page. I realize it's a comedy, but does this really put D3 in a good light? I'm as big a fan of lowbrow comedy as anyone, but couldn't they have made up a ficticious team AND league? Whoever from the NCAA that signed off on letting them use the Division III label wasn't thinking.

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

That's definitely the debate -- subject of the poll question on the front page which is pretty evenly split as well.

As for signing off on using the name, I'm not sure Division III is a registered trademark.

I guess I'm just an "old fart," but having watched the trailer I can think of a whole lot of ways to better spend my money than going to see the movie.

I personally think the movie looks funny.  If I was 70 years old I would not think its funny.  But then again I will probably be a  beleaguered grouch bum when I am 70 years old.

This actually came out as a comedy short in 2006. It apparently impressed the right people, so a feature length movie was developed. I don't quite see it, but to each his own.

On a side note, Andy Dick, or should I say Coach Rick Vice, attended Illinois Wesleyan University for one semester - or so goes the trivia question. Calling Mr. Ypsi, can you confirm or deny that for us? And if that's not enough, the Director and other starring (using that term loosely) actor, Marshall Cook graduated from Occidental College.

I'm almost 70 and watching that trailer makes me extremely eager for the Oct 14 release of the remake of Footloose instead!!  ;)

BoBo, I too have heard that about Andy Dick and IWU, but I can neither confirm nor deny the story.

Sounds like he stated at IWU just as long as John Belushi stayed at UW-Whitewater before getting kicked out. Seems like Belushi's actual tenure at UWW can never be confirmed (somewhere between one semester and one year).

Funny you should bring up Belushi.  His bio says IWU was his first choice but he couldn't get admitted! :D

Belushi  was a most unusual UWW student.  Most are turned down by more than one school before settling upon UWW.
