I left the house this morning to have breakfast with my coffee group.  On my way downtown there were a bunch of flashing lights, trucks and city crew at an intersection down by the Heinz plant.  As I drove by, a guy wearing a Loras t-shirt was being lowered into the sewer.

That makes my weekend ;D
My first thought is that the Loras guy was going into the sewer to rescue some Wartburg guy who stumbled in last night, or the stranded pet of Dubuque co-ed.   ;)   :D   ;D

Mr. Turner knows our fan bases well :D

Hopefully all of our D3 brothers and sisters along the Missouri River are on high ground and staying dry.  I see in the local papers, equipment used in fighting the Mississippi River flood on the eastern side of Iowa earlier this year is moving across the state today to help combat the Missouri River flooding on the western border.

The only thing I can guarantee is that Iowans will start cleaning up the mess and rebuilding as soon as the water begins to recede.  We won't have people standing on their front porches demanding FEMA and the Federal government come in and do it all for them.

They were just giving the Loras guy a hand at getting home!!

I don't worry too much about what Lindy's or the Sporting News have to say about D3.  When Pat and the boys get there information out there for public consumption we will have something to chew on.  Until then grab a gin and tonic with a twist of lime, sit under a shade tree, and enjoy a summer day.

So, are these head coaches getting younger & younger or is Warthog just getting older & older?

Did Willis fall into the fountain of youth?
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

Actually I agree with Warthog's sentiments on pre-season rankings from anyone but Pat and the boys. Lindy's and TSN use last year's press clippings and some good old SWAG to determine their rankings. DIII is the only one to actually do in depth research for Kickoff.

Well things are very busy at our home.  Haven't had the time to post but have been reading and keeping up.  #3 son and #4 son get married in 5 weeks and 11 days.  Then with the youngest taking a new job at Milliken we will have to help get the newly weds moved.  Hope all is well with the posters.

IIAC sighting at the Vinton Palace Theater tonight.  Kid sweeping up the spilled popcorn had a Simpson College Athletics shirt on.  Hopefully this is his summer job and not an indication of the job opportunities awaiting Simpson graduates (rim shot)  ;)

NAIA sighting also at the theater tonight as the kid working the popcorn stand had a Culver-Stockton shirt on.  Why any good Iowa kid would want to slum it up in Missouri for college is beyond me...says the Missouri native.

That's all I've got...just happy we are under 100 days until 2011 kick off!!!

One of the puppies went to Culver-Stockton.  He loved it huntin and fishin were great.  He is now studying at the U of Iowa Pharmacy School.

Filling in the dreary summer days with any college FB news:

Looks like our former brethren at UIU are cashing in.  Replacing what seems like a nearly new stadium, not just the turf.

The artist rendering makes it appear they will be adding wings to the existing stadium, then making the press box bigger, adding turf, getting a new scoreboard, adding lights and then fencing in the entire project.  Nothing said about the woefully inadequate seating on the visitors side.

The good news is, those 500 to 600 hearty souls who attend Uppper Iowa home football games will have plenty of room to sit and probably won't have a long wait in the restroom line.
