I am formally announcing that I am seeking the nomination of my party to become a candidate for the office of governor.

I have only three items on my platform:

1) It shall be illegal in the state of Iowa to ruin football fields with soccer and/or rugby lines.

2) All NCAA D3 colleges in the state of Iowa shall provide user friendly, well shaded, booze encouraged tailgating facilities within two block of the football stadium.

3) Cornell shall be allowed to rejoin the MWC, but the Chameleon's Bleu Cheeseburger shall become exclusive property of the IIAC.

It appears that Upper Iowa, William Penn, and Cornell were paying attention to Warthog.  They appear to not have Soccer on the Football field.  William Penn in their video has seats on the reverse side of the home stands which looks like soccer seating but still able to use restrooms and concessions of the football stadium.  Great idea.

BV wasn't paying attention as they will have soccer on the hallowed football field.  I hope Warthog isn't to tough on them we can't afford to lose another member.

The last two schools to leave the IIAC are in the process of major upgrades to their football facilities.

Upper Iowa - http://uiu.edu/transforming-uiu/SDHarms.html

William Penn - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXLVXSj7iH8

And of course, Cornell is planning football facility improvements just in time for their re-entry into the MWC.

Too bad these schools didn't seem interested in improving their facilities while in the IIAC.

Of course, Buena Vista is currently in the middle of a rehab of their football facilities...new artificial surface along with other upgrades.

I see the WP video is trying to make the illustration as accurate as possible - including the # of fans

Incoming Bethel Offensive Tackle Josh Perkins from Iowa Falls, IA recently received the Ed Thomas Award. This board might already be aware of the award (its existence was news to me), given in honor of the former Aplington-Parkersburg High School football coach who was shot and killed by a former player a few years back. It's given to student-athletes who characterize the values of faith, family, and football—values Thomas instilled in his athletes throughout his time as a coach.

Great to have an incoming BU player who already exemplifies a commitment to the values that the program strives for.

Even greater to see that the Iowa Football Coaches Association (IFCA) is honoring the memory of Ed Thomas in this way. He was a great football coach, but even greater man. The consummate example of what a husband, father and mentor of young men should be. Great call to continue his legacy in this way.

5 weeks from today we will have finished up our 1st weekend of IIAC football for the 2011 season.

When do camps start?

When will WillieU be able to give me updates about the UD pre-season??

Why are the doors at the Knight Village painted Loras Purple...and what team was practicing across the street at Walston-Hoover Stadium the other day while I was driving by???

The practices were the high school team camp.

The doors aren't Loras purple they are UNI purple.  You see, UNI and Wartburg share some gathering places which are sometimes referred to as student friendly bars.  In the event a Wartburg male student has amorous feelings towards an extremely drunk UNI co-ed and offers to take her back to the UNI campus, the purple doors on the Wartburg housing helps convince the co-ed a chivalrous Knight of honor has returned her safely to her dorm room.  Instead of her dorm she enters the dungeon of doom.  This should help WillieU convince himself that not only are the Wartburg athletic, admissions, and financial aid departments crooked, sneaky, and shifty, but the student life department shares similar attributes.

Along the same lines, I've heard that most of the student housing at Luther has rainbow designs painted on the doors.

DBQ1965: Thank you for the reminder.  I just got mine ordered.  I always look forward to Pat and his team's annual report concerning D3 football.

For those of you who haven't ordered in the past you have missed a very enjoyable publication.  The D3 crew does a great job.  The team writeups are extremely accurate.  They are particular valuable when trying to find information about non-conference opponents.  GO KNIGHTS

I wonder what's painted on Central's doors? Halos?
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

You guys are in mid-season form...and no Luther or Central fans around to fire back :(

dahlby

As a Lutheran growing up South Dakota, I find it hard to believe that Luther would have rainbows painted anywhere on campus.
