If today is Thursday...and I believe it is...that means 3 weeks from today the IIAC kicks off their 2011 season with Dubuque travelling south 90 miles to take on Augustana.

The season starts in less than a month and the NFL has started their preseason.
I think I got so excited that I tore my rotator cuff.  :P
I had surgery done today. If you would please...some Prayers for a very quick recovery!

Sending my prayers for your quick recovery...but may you also be able to milk a few extra days of care and sympathy out of your wife and kids even after you are back to full strength!!!

Sympathy card already tucked in my back pocket.  ;)
My daughter made me dinner yesterday and I wasn't even feeling any pain.
The hospital had me so juiced up, I thought I was at one of Warthogs tailgate parties.  ;D
This morning is a different story. I may have to pull that card out sooner than expected
or head to Iowa and meet up for a pre-tailgate event.

I think I've asked this before, but why does a player quit on the first day?
I've never understood this.  ???

A - Young kid suddenly realizes D3 football is not glorified intramurals and spent a day getting his butt whupped up and down the practice field and quits on the team.

B - Young kid misses his girl friend and mommas cooking and runs back home in a hurry.

C - Thinks those tailgate parties might be more his speed than working out in those hot August Iowa days ;D

How about:

F - Discovered d3football.com (or d3boards.com) and found out the coach was lying about that scholarship! ;D

G - (Keep the kids away from this one - it is NOT rated G ;)) - Pulls his groin in a totally different way than his girlfriend did. :P

"G" gets Mr Ypsi +k for a week...I'm still laughing

My wife and I went to the John Earnest Winery tonight.  We ran into a UD alum (former basketball player) while there.  He now drives a beer truck.  That fits in very nicely with my image of what a UD alum would think of as the perfect career move ;D

I still don't see an updated UD roster.  Hope to see one soon and also get some two-deep insider info from WillieU!!!

So, do we have any word on who have or who have not shown up at football camps around the IIAC?  What sort of defection rates do we have from last year's freshmen to this year's sophomores?

The IIAC needs a big television contract so we can raid other conferences for teams that can help make us a "super" conference.  ::)

Although "G" gets my vote, the truth is probably closer to the fact that a kid that was a big fish in a little pond is now in a lot bigger pond and realizes he's not the star anymore.
Ego plays a big part. Too bad since a lot of those kids could make a contribution.

After RAGBRAI, it's all downhill until kickoff. Excited to welcome the Kohawks to campus and get to work on 2011. Lot's of reason for optimism around Coe, not the least of which includes visitor bleachers!

When are those visitor bleachers supposed to be put in? I did a drive by after work last week and didn't see much going on.
