It has been a long time but I am finally back on the boards. Ready for the season right around the corner!

I drove by Coe's field today and they are assembling the visitor side stands.  A welcome addition I am sure all will agree.

As I was driving by I noticed a sign on the Coe softball field fence along the street that said "Park at your own peril".  I wondered if that was warning of foul balls or attacks with garden tools?

Thankfully with that guy in prison for the rest of his life, we won't have to worry about that.

Will the visiting side seating at Coe be a permenant stand?  Or just roll away bleachers?  How about concessions and bathrooms?  Us Doolittles don't like to walk far for our nachos and restroom breaks ;D

I thought the doolittle snack of choice was cotton candy.  Do I need to cancel my order for the cotton candy machine?  I thought for sure Wartburg would have the inside track recruiting Miss Doolittle when we got the equipment installed.

Doolittle children do prefer cotton candy and Wartburg does still have the inside track for our middle child.  Our oldest has actually been talking college choices lately...which is odd considering she just entered the 4th grade today...her friends talk about college all the time for some readson.  Her current leader is UD...and I am not pushing that choice at all.  We just want our kids to choose a school that they feel comfortable with (hopefully within a 2-3 hour drive and not half way across the country)

As for football...I want the season to get started and see how things play out within our conference.  This should be an interesting year.  Hopefully we have nice weather each weekend and we can keep away from any serious injuries out on the field.

It is kind of fun watching the Wartburg people try to sandbag us on here.  All they have are a couple of pre-season All Americans amongst the 14 returning starters and 40 lettermen from last years conference champs.  Yeah, they ought to be third pick in the conference (not).

Normally I would be very excited about Central's season based on the talent they have.  Except this year, the competition seems to be abnormally tough.  At least the Dutch have a mobile third year starting senior quarterback, and several speedy receivers for him to throw to, just like the last time they won a couple of play-off games in 2007.  Is it football season yet?

I agree, the sandbagging isn't fooling anyone. I think we all know what wartburg, central, & coe will bring to the table, the real question is , will anyone else step it up and compete with them  ???

I have to start reading these season previews more carefully.  The one on the IIAC web page reports that the loathsome Simpson Storm returns 25 starters?  Made me have to try to count how many starters there are, offense and defense =22 plus who?  Punter, place- kicker, long snapper, holder, kick off kicker, punt returner, kick-off returner, nickel back for passing downs, big tall guy to try to block extra points, big fat straight ahead short yardage fullback, who else?

It can't be the big fat straight ahead guy.  I don't have any eligability and I would never go to Simpson.

I don't think we're sandbagging.  There are plenty of holes to fill.  The incoming group, on paper, doesn't seem too impressive.  Opening against a pass happy Monmouth team with a  secondary that needs some replacements for some talented people who graduated.
Things may improve later in the season, but early on it could be dicey.  Good news is the IIAC opener  ;).

"Second-year Cornell head coach Vince Brautigam has 33 freshman from his first full recruiting class and they compose more than half of the roster. The infusion has benefitted the entire team.

"They're bringing a little big of new energy," senior linebacker and former West Branch prep Tyler Bailey said. "They help us and we feed off of it. So far, we've had a lot of fun, but worked pretty hard in camp."
