WOW... you want to see some nasty weather tune into the WB Monmouth webcast.

55 - 3 the final in St. Paul.

Bethel rolled up 605 yds of offense, 439 on the ground.

Sounds like Wartburg is playing in one interesting game in WI. Weather and play-wise.

If the fans are on the field,
where are the teams? In the stands.  ;)

Congratulations to UWO for their role in making Central look bad today.  It was a well deserved win, you were the better team on the field today.  Should have listened to my brain, instead of my red-glasses in picking this game.   :'(  Central was never really in this game, even given the final score.  They made so many mistakes that if they had won, it would have been because UWO didn't want it.  I guess it is good to get the "everything that could go wrong, did go wrong" game out of the way in non-conference, but when it is the experienced players making mistakes, I get worried.  Last year it didn't seem like Central could stop any team with a good offense and it doesn't seem like anything has changed.  Central needed to be ablt to give the defense a break and they just could not get anything moving.

Tough day for the IIAC "C" teams today.

I heard Loras was up on Elmhurst, playing well and winning. They wanted to rest their starters for the iiac regular season so they pulled their starters and Elmhurst came back and took the lead. Still feel loras is top pick for iiac this year

Rough day for Boyle down south. I picked Coe to win this one, given all the turnover HSC had from last year. No doubt he'll bounce back well. Nothing like an unexpected rough day to refocus an All-America caliber player for the rest of the year.

Report from the Olivet - Cornell game.  First of all, it was hotter 'n' hell!!!  Met some great Cornell fans, including 4 guys (alums and/or parents) who sing a pretty good rendition of the Cornell fight song.  Also got a kick out of OL Sam Cluck who sported a Rams horns haircut.

The game itself was even matched but not played crisply.  Cornell's back-up QB Juan Flores (starter Andy Burdick went out in the 2nd qrtr with some kind of leg injury) was great at scampering around and making good field decisions.  The Flores-Jim Scully passing combination really gave Olivet fits.

Two critical points for the Rams came when Safety Nick Brautigam (yes, the coach's son) literally wrestled the ball away from the Olivet receiver and ran about 45 yards for a TD.  The other key point was when the Rams blocked an Olivet punt and recovered on the Comet's four yard line.

With a half-time score of 21-10 and Olivet leading, the second half had plenty of action resulting in the 36-35 Cornell win.  I'm sure it will be a happy bus ride back to Mt. Vernon, but it still might be a long season for the Rams.  However, they showed themselves to be a scrappy bunch and no one in the IIAC should take them for granted.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

That Cornell game report sounds exactly how the Rams used to LOSE games.  Even if Olivett is a poor team, Cornell showed some fight to fight back from 11 down to get the win.  Congrats to the Rams.

Luther loses 24-22 to the Oles.  That is 8 straight losses to St. Olaf but it seems like every year it's a single digit loss for the Norse.  One of these years you would think Luther would find a way to get a win against them.  They are pretty even teams overall.

Good showing for Loras against Elmhurst, but a tough loss, seems it was more like a women's basketball score (24-50). It just cant be easy playing a Chicago land school out of the gates. I'm sure they will tighten things up vs rockford next week.

Yeah, because a school located in Chicagoland MUST make that team tough as nails ::)
