This Saturday is supposed to be 61 degrees and sunny...perfect weather for some football.  We'll have our kids with us this weekend in Mt. Vernon for the UD/Cornell game...hopefully witnessing a better outcome than last weekends game >:(  And, um, I don't expect to see FBD, NKD, and warthog there with their newly purchased bus ;D

I wonder if any IIAC fans want to purchase this bus/portable strip club now that the Detroit Lions have banned it from their pregame tailgates?
Talk about a recruiting tool ;D

I would guess we could find a parking spot for the bus within easy walking distance of Walston-Hoover Stadium.  This would probably be a better recruiting tool than my previously suggested cotton candy machine.

Wartburg could incorporate the two ideas.  There is probably a very good chance that one of the performers on the bus goes by the stage name of Candy Cotton.  :P

We could charge a small fee to enter said mobile establishment. You could call it contributing to the "Endowment" Fund. ;)

FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

After party bus makes Waverly debut

Wartburg tailgate attendence = 5,000
Wartburg football attendence = 75

That depends.  If we have our kids with us, then we will just stick to tailgating.  If it's just my wife and myself down there...we will be visiting Chameleons...I loves me some blue/bleu cheeseburger baskets, and beer!!!

Anyone know if there is video of games from the Rock Bowl?

Here's hoping that the punt and kick returners for the Dutch are not playing catch the greased pig(skin) again this weekend.  I'm trying to remember if there was a time the ball wasn't dropped by the kickoff/punt return guys last week.  This is another week and hopefully the coach watched the replay of the game with eyes that saw the mistakes as well as the great performances that other players made to help balance things out.  Congratulations to Sheldon for making player of the week for his kicking.

For long time Dutch fans of all sports, I see the Central website has a link for videos of some of the most memorable moments in Central College sports history.  http://www.central.edu/athletics/traditionRecords/magicMoments.cfm has a variety of video links to the greatest moments in Central sports history.  Yes, of course the Miracle in the Mud is there, but it is joined by the closing moments of the 1974 Stagg Bowl, the Women's 2003 semi-final shot by Emilie Hanson to move us to the title game, the grand slam that put us ahead in the softball championship, etc.

Should be a great day for a game.  I'm looking for a competitive game, I'm not sure it will be but like I've said before, small steps under a new coach would be nice.

Jay Leno had a bit about the party bus during his monologue last night.  I was disappointed that he didn't mention it would be located at Regents Park on the Wartburg campus this weekend. NewKnightDad and footballdaddy will be outside the bus collecting for the Endowment Fund while I'll be inside taking care of quality control issues.

Go Dutch!

My birthday is next week.  I just had a person with Central ties deliver a package of red & white tulip bulbs to celebrate the occasion.  I can see an orange mum plant in her future when her birthday rolls around next June.

I have to be honest...the Cornell game against UD this weekend has me a bit nervous..ok so really nervous :-\. My hope is that Cornell is healthy and can get some offense going to keep that high powered offense of UD off the field. Oh and also I heard that Cornell found a way to play defense with more than 11 on the field so we will have that going in our favor  ;) In all seriousness this game reminds me of the 2007 season when UD came to Ash Park and just throttled the Rams. UD was rolling in conference just like they are right now putting up big numbers and it was homecoming at Cornell.  I just hope the outcome is different and history does not repeat itself...I believe the score was something like 67-6 in 2007.

It wasn't quite that bad.  I believe...and I am often wrong...61-21 was the final score.  It was something like 35-7 after 1 quarter and 51-something at halftime so that might have led you to believe it was worse.  Brautigam called off the dogs in the 2nd half and the final was 61-21.

That day we had lunch at Chameleans, 2 game tickets, 2 hot chocolates and a bag of popcorn at halftime, 2 capacinos from a drive thru stand on the edge of town after the game and our total was under $50.00

That day cemented our view that D3 football was how we would be spending most fall Saturdays in the future and our days of going to D1 games were probably over.

Ugh!  The horra of that game.  I was there...it was disastrous...Cornell could not stop Jermar and could not get out of their own way on offense.  Everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

Other than the predicted weather, the way other circumstances are aligning it very well could be a similar outcome...The young Rams are just plain overmatched in this one.
