An interesting and more telling addition to this would be how many times was Zweifel the target but it was an incompletion.

With WB having an off week I am trying to figure out if it would be worth my time to go to Mt Vernon to watch Cornell vs Central tomorrow?  I only live 30 minutes from Mt Vernon so it would be a short drive.
If you go to Mount Vernon, you might have to break into someone's room to watch the game over the internet. I believe the game is in Pella.

Darn, I must have misread the schedule on the IIAC web site.

Certainly not going to Pella.
Just plop on a couch at the 10th ave apartments. I think Ash Park, Oh Iowa, and I paid enough in fines to claim part ownership of the south apartment.

Cali, there isn't much thinking to do about that one.  I bet if we charged $5 cover for everyone that came to an after hours party, we still would have fell short of covering our fines.  Now if we could only salvage those video tapes to account for who caused what damages.  Still brings a tear to my eye to think about 10th Ave.

I think next year at homecoming we should just show up at 10th ave and tell them we are hosting an alumni party there.

As a Duhawk fan that has still has some connections within the college I can tell you that Loras is not seriously looking to make a conference change; especially not in the direction similar to Cornell.  I think the only thing that might sway Loras to move would be to help strengthen what Kickin was saying above.  Loras has strong connections to the Chicago area and only a move in that direction would make sense.  The Loras admin. sees the writing on the wall when it comes to the demographics of Iowa and it's not pretty.  It will soon be about 4 mid-size cities and many 2000 acre corporate farms.  Trust me, as a kid from small town Iowa this makes me sad.    Loras' advantage lies in its location and the college will have to increasingly rely on it to keep drawing students.
I'll also say that although I hate seeing the Duhawks fall to UD, it is actually better for everyone that the football rivalry is better.  When I was a student(late 90's) I never understood how Loras basically saw the UD game as a must win(and Loras was always winning the game then) and then finish  around 500. Bierie put way too much emphasis on that game.

Perhaps his connection "pressured him"

Ah, Loras, I was so pulling for you guys to get the upset win of the day today.  Congratulations for bouncing back as well as you did against one of the teams tied for first.  It shows a lot of character.

It was strange at the end of the game realizing that this was the last time Central would play Cornell, at least as part of the conference.  Nice to see Mac and Coach B talking after the game.  I have a lot of respect for him and the way he started turning things around at UD before they let him go.  I'm not saying Coach Z isn't a great one, but Coach Brautigan was doing good things there and I wish he wasn't leaving the IIAC again.

The first half it was nice to see Central playing with some intensity again and really nice that Nate Snead is no longer required to be the primary ball carrier.  I enjoy seeing him run, but a one man offense was too easy to stop.  Good to see the runners picking up the pace.  I've said it before and will say it again, Josh Osborn is absolutely my favorite new player.  The kid can really run and I think he deserves more opportunities, just wish he had not been injured today and really hoping that he can be ready to go next week.  Actually, I wish we had our bye week so he could have more time to heal.  Wartburg will not be easy and apparently we are saving him as a secret weapon.  Of course, when you break a big TD run in every game where they gvie you a chance, how secret can you really be?  I am going to really enjoy watching him over the next 3 years.

Central again played inconsistently, looking lathargic in the third quarter, particularly on offense.  But I will say we do have one player who is as consistent as they come making 42 of 42 PAT kicks.  Now if they rest of the team would play as consistently as Preston Sheldon, we could have been undefeated.  The defense looks like maybe it has improved in what was a real weak area with pass coverage.  I haven't seen the stats, but I'm sure the Rams QB took a hit on him completion rate today.  He was good at scrambling though, we didn't get to him much for sacks, but at least we got some pressure going which lead to a nice pick-6.

Step it up next week Dutch, you are going to have to play a focused and complete game on both sides of the ball against Wartburg.

Nothing surprising in the IIAC this weekendl.....though the Coe/Loras score was closer than I expected.  Storm/Norse game must have been a little exciting if the Norse threatened late.  They however don't have much punch to win.

A great autumn weekend...now it turns cold.

I'm back, hope you all weren't losing sleep wondering what happened to me.  I was just trying to clear up and delete old email accts and somehow managed to delete my acct here.  No admin interference and my "connections" didn't have me hanging off the Julien Dubuque bridge in concrete boots.

Anyway, I was proud of the Loras response yesterday.    This was the epitome of either a pack in the season game or play with something to prove.  There was all around improvement and when the power went out in the Loras neighborhood early in the 4th quarter, I thought a strange day could end with a Duhawk win.  It wasn't to be but it did give me hope that Mierk can continue to motivate the players and improve in a lost season.

In more other news, here's what I'm guessing happened at the Chlapaty household last week:

Joe's wife:  Joe I just found a check in the couch

Joe:  How much is it for?

Joe's wife:  7 million

Joe:  Just give it to UD

I think that puts their giving to UD at over 60 million in the last 10 years.  That place was nearly closed when I was a student, and they have literally brought it back from the brink.  I think they're doing all of this just to stick it to Loras.

Welcome back...glad to see you aren't sleeping with the fishes ;D

Great response by the Duhawks yesterday.  They had two options after the Central game...they chose the right way!!!

I have the utmost respect for both Coach Mac and B. Sounds like those two have a lot of respect for each other as well. Both coaches are class acts in my book.

Flores was running for his life all day long. The more and more I watch this Cornell team the more and more I like the skill kids they have. Nice size and very good speed on both sides of the ball. However, they are lacking in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

I really hope they can put a complete game together and get a W or 3  ;) in the remainder of the season.

Is it just me or has the board slowed down the past week? I know Mondays are slow but we are getting close to 2400...we have to keep on pushing through the season and finish strong right?

I might also just being making pointless posts to get me closer to my 400th post  ;)
