Is it just me or has the board slowed down the past week? I know Mondays are slow but we are getting close to 2400...we have to keep on pushing through the season and finish strong right?

I might also just being making pointless posts to get me closer to my 400th post  ;)

Dubuque fans too busy praying for a strong finish to the season.

Central fans dissapointed they aren't heading into this weekends game against Wartburg as two undefeated and top 10 ranked teams.

Wartburg fans too busy explaining to their wives that the party (stripper) bus they bought is a good investment.

Coe fans too busy hanging out with coocoo at his rugby tourneys.

Loras fans too busy on the futbol boards ;D

It would be nice if Central and Warburg were undefeated, but I am still plenty fired-up for Saturday's game in Waverly.  Based on what happened last year, I will worry about Central's ability to avoid turnovers and keep the Warts' defensive line out of their offensive backfield.  If the Dutch can do those two things, I think the rest of their game is strong enough to get the "W."

Be careful...last time I made a crack about Loras fans and soccer my karma took a hit  ???

Coming off the bye week for Wartburg and not a lot to report.  I hope we get some guys back this week and can be closer to healthy and full strength.

It will be a knock down drag out slobber knocker Saturday in Waverly that is for sure.  The last three years the winner has been the visiting team, I hope we can break that trend this year.
Win or lose we still booze!!

I think that puts their giving to UD at over 60 million in the last 10 years.  That place was nearly closed when I was a student, and they have literally brought it back from the brink.  I think they're doing all of this just to stick it to Loras.

Joe and Linda Chlapaty have been the biggest Spartan supporters for sure but the University of Dubuque's "revival" was anything but a "one man" show. Let's not forget the generousity of the Wendt family ($30+ Million) and Charles & Romona Myers ($30+ Million).

I hope , I mean think all of them are doing it to stick it to Lorass  ;)

In reality, Loras has nothing to do with it. Regardless of how fortunate the University of Dubuque has been in the past 13 years since the transformation, UD has had a strong 160 year tradition of educating students and the investments will help secure that for many years to come. Of course, building championship athletic teams are a definite bonus  ;D

I've been awfully quiet on the postboard for much of the season. I don't believe in giving constant individual "props" to players.

But, in case anyone hasn't been following closely and if my math is correct, Michael Zweifel currently has 425 Receptions, 5581 Yards, and 50 TD's in his college career. The All-Time NCAA (All Divisions- D-I; D-IAA; D-II; D-III) Reception Record stands at 436.

I am sure Luther and Coe will do everything they can to stop him from achieving history but something tells me it's not a matter of "if" but "when".

If you can't follow your favorite team on Saturday, making a trip to Chalmer's Field on this Saturday wouldn't be a bad idea for the Spartans final regular season home game VS Luther. Otherwise, you can watch the action live http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/dbq.portal#

Except I want to make mention of QB Wyatt Hanus's performance on Saturday. He was 33 of 39 for 478 yards and 7 TD's.

He broke my old roommates record of 6 TD's passes in a game. (Wyatt had already tied it earlier this season).

Records in football mean so much more when they are accompanied by wins. Then you know it's all about the TEAM.

I know you're mostly right Willie but I have actually have heard that some of the Chlapaty support of UD stems from his hate of Loras.  It must be really strong if that's the case, but I've heard that from some pretty good sources.  I wonder if there are any other colleges that are less than a mile apart that compete against each other in the same conference.  It has to be a pretty unique situation.

I agree that the conversation seems a little slower than normal especially from Coe and Wart fans that usually roam the board.  I guess they don't know the feeling of following a pretty bad team.   I am looking forward to seeing the outcome of the Cent/Wart game, should be an entertaining one.

Since Willie brought up Hanus, I wondered who people thought is the front runner for conference MVP. Do you give it to Zweifel or does it go to the man dishing it to Zweifel (and Fleming and Hookstead and...)?

I didn't mean to imply that Coe and Warty are bad, just not what they have been the last few years.

I'm not sure you can give it to anyone but Zweifel.  You can argue all you want about how many times he's thrown to etc, but every time I've seen him, he's the best player on the field.

From the few times that I have met Joe and Linda Chlapaty I feel safe in saying they are donating money towards an institution they love and feel grateful that UD took in a kid who was the first in his family to go to college and he was able to take what he learned there and go on to a very successful life.  They also are big donors to Nationwide Childrens Hospital and to Lutheran Services as well as Marietta College.

I will say I am sure Joe Chlapaty saw even more than what I saw when I was at UD, that in general, we got along well with Loras people but it was the Dubuque locals that had an almost scary attitude to anything that wasn't Loras or catholic affiliated.  It now seems to only happen below the bluff, but you still see in Dubuque where locals will act like they have never even heard of UD and are confused about this supposed school you are telling them you attend.  I can't tell you how many times I would be in a store with friends of mine and a very friendly store owner would ask if we went to Loras and when we told him we went to UD they would suddenly frown and say they don't know anything about that and walk into the back room of the store.  We used to wonder if people were coached on it.  It would really freak us out.  I suppose we could have been over reacting.  And again, we almost always got along well with people that worked at Loras and other Loras students.  It just seemed to be old time Dubuque families and their attitude towards UD.  I wouldn't be surprised if Joe Chlapaty has mentioned something about that in the past, but Joe and his wife Linda would not be donating all this money just to stick it to someone.

As far as POY and COY...not even going there.  I would rather see UD make it to the post season and make some noise in the playoffs than achieve honors like POY or COY.  I am sure the team feels the same way.

Come on! The fans get to run their mouths with all sorts of true/ludicrous statements. The players have to let their performance do the talking. Let your voice be heard.  ;D

It's more a superstitious thing...If I talk about a UD kid getting an award that will lead to the Spartans losing their final 2 games ;D

You guys can have it...I just don't want to be the reason Dubuque might not win conference ;)
