Okay, I found an error myself.  Coe can't clinch this week unless Central also loses, which is impossible since they're idle.  ;)
I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I may have temporary feelings about it.

So, I am going to ask the question and maybe it already has been asked.   ???

Is Coach Z long term at UD?  You know other programs are going to come calling and now his son will be done playing football.  How committed it Stan to the Spartan Nation?

A better question would be........will Rick Willis try yet again to leave Wartburg  ???

I think we need to understand that Coach Willis probably isn't the only IIAC football coach checking the waters to see if better opportunities exist elsewhere.  The difference is that he has been a finalist for some of these jobs and therefore his name became public.

We all know that once you achieve a certain amount of success, the offers come to you as opposed to having to put yourself up for the selection process.  With the continued success Coach Willis has had with the Knights, I would guess he is in the category of D3 coaches who receive the calls asking if he would consider a move.  One would probably think Coaches Zwiefel and McMartin are in the same group.  Perhaps Coach Stakers avoids these calls because of his age, but you can bet his top assistants are being persude for certain jobs.  As a couple examples we have former assistant coaches who were coaching in successful Wartburg football and wrestling programs who are now serving as head coaches at UWLax.  I'm not concerned that Coach Willis shows up as a head coach finalist for some very successful football programs.  It makes me think our guy is really good.

Thank goodness for the Knights he has remained at Wartburg.

Did his daughter run track at a WIAC school?

Yes, Shannon Zwiefel was a two time track All American at UW-River Falls.

Knowing the kind of recruiter Stan Zwiefel is I've got a feeling that Dubuque is going to be very competitive in the future.  I don't think you guys have seen the last of Dubuque contending for a conference championship.

My hope is that UD wins this weekend to render all of Mr. Morses hard work at tie-break scenarios useless ;)

I would be OK with badgerwarhawks comment that we havent seen the last of Dubuque contending for a conference championship ;D

NewKnightDad

I would certainly take a share of the conference title if possible, but I would like to see UD win it if it can't be the Knights.
Win or lose we still booze!!

There are rumors of a possible Warthog sighting in Cedar Rapids this Saturday. :o
Mrs. Warthog wants to get a head start on some Christmas shopping.  She is willing to drop me off at a football stadium of my choice.  ;D
I prefer the Rock Bowl, but I understand she would prefer being able to access Linndale Mall, Coral Ridge Mall, Williamsburg, and the Amanas as opposed to just Kennedy Mall.  As a result I might wisely suggest she take me to check out the new and improved Coe field.  ???
This would probably make her measurably happier and I will get to model my TEAM hat for a second time this season.  :)
I'd like to get a gig as Tim Lary's guest analyst on the Spartan Radio Network, but I assume that ship has sailed long ago.  Perhaps he will interview me at half-time or better yet I could do sideline interviews with Coach Kyte and pressbox interviews with Coach Olsen during the game.  They probably wouldn't mind the interuption.  ;)
The Spartan/Kohawk game should be a dandy.  I just hope the concession stand has plenty of the best hotdogs in the IIAC. :D

Supposed to be windy on Saturday.

One of these teams will par-tay!
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

coocoo makes his return to the board!

We'll keep a look out Saturday for a really tall, Kurt Cobain/rugby player/former swimmer looking dude in Coe gear to say "hi" to ;D

I will probably be on the Dubuque side of the field with a bald headed, Shrek/rugby player/ former Dubuque O-Lineman looking dude covered in Dubuque gear.

You have described Dave "the ice man" Isenberg. How do I know....he lives in CR, plays rugby, but most of all...your description was perfect! Great guy. Have fun! GO SPARTANS!!!

Hey DooLittle do you follow the local HS football team?  I am coming up to watch the playoff game next Monday night and was wondering if you would be there.

If you're coming up for the game I will go...if the weather is nice you might even get my wife and kids to make an appearance.  We usually go to 1 or 2 games in September and as the weather gets cold we don't head out except for UD games.  Wes Burnside is a beast at RB and a lot of other talent on the team as well.

I suppose you are recruiting for Wartburg!

You guys will have to let me know how the game goes.  Being a Maquoketa native, I have followed them all year on the radio, but haven't been able to make a trip back from Ohio.  It's always interesting when teams meet for a second time in the same season in the playoffs.  I think this one comes down to who can stop the others running game.

Back to the IIAC.  A lot of things can happen Saturday that might make this a year to remember.  First, Dubuque has a chance to win the title, and Cornell has a chance to finish above the bottom.  Obviously, Cornell needs to beat Luther and a couple other teams need to lose, but nonetheless, a chance for the Rams to climb the ladder.  It will be bittersweet if that happens being that Cornell is jumping ship to the MWC.  For me and I'm sure other Cornell followers, I will be left with the "what if" we didn't switch conferences.  Is Cornell becoming a competitive team in the IIAC?  I feel they are, but we will never know.

That would be kind of a whacky year in the IIAC....UD wins conference and Cornell finishes in the middle. This weekend has me all sorts of jacked up and it seems like it should be Saturday already! This could be the first time Cornell has had back to back IIAC wins since 2001 which was also the last time Cornell had a winning record. Hopefully they take care of business Saturday.

Best color combinations for a football uniform in the IIAC?
Current style need not be considered.  Colors only are the criteria.
You can't pick your team's combination.

(Current)
Navy/Gold
Red/Gold
Purple/Gold
Red/White
Blue/White
Purple/White
Orange/Black

(Throw backs since the 1950s, not mentioned above)
Green/White
Navy/White
Baby Blue/White

I believe I am correct in saying that Parsons College was decked out in Green/White.  That would be my choice.
