Better to go 10-0 if you want respect. Also, not giving up 42 points a couple times a season. Should be an interesting game.

I was at Naperville last year for North Central's game against UWW, so when I saw the NCC - UD match-up, I had a very unministerial response.  But as the old saying goes, if you want to be the best, you have to play the best.  The Spartans better have their defense ready to play their best game yet.

I was hoping to drive over to Dubuque to watch the Spartans host a first-round game, but now I won't have to drive so far for a UD on-the-road victory.

GO SPARTANS!

I coach at North Central now, on the women's basketball side. If any UD alum are coming to the game, let me know. I'm iffy on the game, depending on my schedule, but open to seeing some friendly UD faces. Also, NC is a "wet" campus, and they tailgate pretty good there, beer and all. anyone coming this way, email me at theparrisfamily@live.com

There's a pretty cool bar a couple of blocks from the stadium too.  We had a good time there last year.

Good luck Spartans.  A tough draw but I don't think that was totally unexpected.

I guess if your name isn't Central, Coe, Wartburg and you're from the IIAC you have to earn respect with the committee.  Oh well, you have to play tough teams sooner or later.  Let's get this show on the road and rack up some victories.  I have a UD friend that lives pretty close to the North Central campus.  Maybe I can road trip there.  It's iffy though.

Nobody in the IIAC has gotten any favors for a few years now.  We need some signature wins in playoffs to earn that.  This is the Spartans' chance to do that. Good luck, well be cheeringq for you

Did you find pieces of the flag?  We are holding out hope of getting it back but if you saw it we will forget that.

If my wife ever gets a hold of who the chicken s#*t that took it they will wish they never crossed her path.

We were just a couple minutes behind the young guys who discovered the damage.  Perhaps they said ripped off the flag and I heard ripped up the flag.  Regardless, it was a shame.  All the years I've tailgating, I never thought about having to take our flag or flag pole down when I headed to the stadium at any campus in the IIAC.  I'm glad we were running late yesterday and didn't put ours up.  I guess I didn't know that was you across the driveway from our vehicle.

Coe's win over then #4 and 10-0 St. John's was a pretty big win.  They didn't do themselves any favors by blowing a fourth quarter lead at Wheaton last year though.

Dubuque Telegraph-Herald with some UD playoff news.  I'll just cut and past a tiny portion...

The game will be a battle of wills between two elite units: Quarterback Wyatt Hanus (whose rifled 44 touchdowns against seven interceptions), All-American receiver Michael Zweifel (24 touchdown catches) and Dubuque's No. 3-ranked passing offense (averaging 330 yards per game) against North Central's lock-down pass defense.

The Cardinals' secondary surrendered just two passing scores in CCIW play and tied an NCAA Division III record this season by returning six interceptions for touchdowns.

"Our ability to match up offensively is damn good, no matter who we're playing," said Stan Zweifel, whose offense ranks No. 2 nationally.

Saturday is the biggest game in program history, but Zweifel and his team have already played and won several big milestone games this fall. Saturday is a chance to win another one.

"(Mentally) the secret about playing in a big game is it isn't a big game. It's just another game," Zweifel said, just before leaving to begin extensive research on the Spartans' playoff foe.

After 77-7, there isn't much to say. Thank you to the outgoing Cornell seniors that gave it their all through the remainder of their final plays. Don't graduate and disappear. The team needs and will appreciate your continued support no matter what state you end up in.

Cali, were you at the game? I thought maybe I had too many adult beverages when I got the text of the score and wasn't seeing clearly. This was not the way I hoped for this team to end the season or in the IIAC for that matter.

Good luck to Dubuque in the playoffs.

For the NCC -UWW game last year I remember having to park on the street a few blocks away.  Any recommendations for a parking lot where UD fans can gather before the game?

You might find parking to be better for this game depending on how UD travels.

GO SPARTANS!

I don't foresee an issue with parking for this game. The parking situation for last year's NCC/UWW was kind of rough due to the weather (snowing, with lots of snow already on the ground) and the good fan showing from both NCC and UWW.

There is street parking around the stadium, but the best bet is the parking garage just northwest of the stadium on Chicago Ave. The garage is between the stadium and the Naperville bar district.
You win! You always do!

You had me at "bar district"  ;D

My 1st inclination was to just stay home and watch this game on the computer.  Now I'm leaning towards finding a way to make it to the game.
