Better to go 10-0 if you want respect. Also, not giving up 42 points a couple times a season. Should be an interesting game.

So you are saying they look at more than just a record when determining who makes the playoffs as well?  I might disagree with that just a bit.

I believe the 10-0 part but to mention points given up in a game helps decide home field I think is a reach.

Win or lose we still booze!!

Pat Coleman

You asked about respect -- that's what I was answering to. Giving up 40-plus points may not affect your playoff chances indirectly, but it does so directly because it helps you lose games.

I wasn't anticipating the way the NCAA moved so many teams across regions.  I was seeing that Dubuque was the 5th ranked team in the West and figured the Spartans would be a 5th seed or possibly a 4th seed if the NCAA moved UW-Whitewater out of the region.  I didn't see UD getting moved down to a 6th seed.

Notes for UD...go undefeated next year...don't let 2 teams that each went 6-2 in the IIAC score 40+ points on you...get a win against NCC this Saturday and keep this season rolling!!!

I coach at North Central now, on the women's basketball side. If any UD alum are coming to the game, let me know. I'm iffy on the game, depending on my schedule, but open to seeing some friendly UD faces. Also, NC is a "wet" campus, and they tailgate pretty good there, beer and all. anyone coming this way, email me at theparrisfamily@live.com

For the NCC -UWW game last year I remember having to park on the street a few blocks away.  Any recommendations for a parking lot where UD fans can gather before the game?

GO SPARTANS!

I don't foresee an issue with parking for this game. The parking situation for last year's NCC/UWW was kind of rough due to the weather (snowing, with lots of snow already on the ground) and the good fan showing from both NCC and UWW.

There is street parking around the stadium, but the best bet is the parking garage just northwest of the stadium on Chicago Ave. The garage is between the stadium and the Naperville bar district.

You had me at "bar district"  ;D

My 1st inclination was to just stay home and watch this game on the computer.  Now I'm leaning towards finding a way to make it to the game.

As long as the weather is decent I would advise on making the trip. There are plenty of watering holes (and I do mean plenty, it's a 4-5 block radius of restaurants and bars). The UWW faithful would probably agree that it's worth the trip.

I agree with that, but trying to figure out the criteria for determining seeds and who gets in and who doesn't seems quite cloudy.

Pat I assume that you do not sit on the board that determines the playoff pairings?

And for the record I have said many times that the only way I believe the IIAC gets two bids is one team is 10-0 and the second is 9-1.

I find it strange that two 9-1 teams get in from the MWC.

Sour grapes, probably.  >:(

I suspect that Dubuque tailgaters will be directed to the upper level of the parking deck at Brainard St. & Highland Ave.  That's where the Carthage faithful set up every two years.

Naperville Community Television is currently listing the game on their broadcast schedule, so fans who can't make the trip should be able to see the game at http://www.nctv17.com

Thanks ncc_fan. When I come down I park in the lot on Chicago (or on the street on Jefferson or Loomis), I wasn't sure if they still opened the lots up for public use (though I guess I should have, as I know where our tailgaters are always located).

GO SPARTANS!

Depends on what time you get there. if you get to the campus early enough, the parking lot across from the gym is where the tailgates usually happen, and on the field behind the stadium. If you are not tailgating, utilize one of Napervilles frrr parking garages. There are enough bars in that area that you could gather there as well

Plenty is an understatement!! if anyone coordinates a UD get together, please let the board know

Also another possible factor that I was unaware of until today (shame on me, considering I'm a former NCC bball player): NCC's Tip-Off Tourney is also Saturday, with Men's and Women's bball games going on. I wouldn't anticipate there being parking issues to deal with if you're there prior to the football game, but I'm not exactly sure what time it all starts. Lots of activity down in the athletic complex for sure.

hahaha, sure!! Who says I won't be with you guys though??? On a serious note, Naperville PD is an EXTREMELY dilligent unit around DUI's...and there are about 20 bars in a 4 block radius, so plenty of temptations.

Now that I am over the initial shock/surprise with UD being sent on the road to NCC ... I am thinking the Spartans match up pretty well with the Cardinals.  The big question will be the UD defense.

Benedetti-Wherli Stadium is a nice facility although when I was there last year for the NCC-UWW game, it got pretty crowded around the bathroom facilities and the concession windows.  As I recall, there was limited seating on the Visitor's side.

I plan on driving over Saturday for a Spartan victory.  Anyone else going?
