Do like the Big Ten does with 1 rivalry game (Michigan/Notre Dame), 1 big BCS matchup (OSU/Texas), 1 gimme game (any Big Ten team against a MAC team)

1 game against a UMAC school, 1 rivalry game (Coe/Cornell), 1 IIAC/WIAC/WWIC game.

Not quite a gimme - ask Michigan St.!  (Central Michigan beat them two years in a row not long ago.) ;D

But, yeah, it is an 80-90% win.

I was counting on Mr. Ypsi to bring up the occational MAC victories over their Big Ten neighbors ;)

And don't bring up Western Michigan and their 2 victories over my Hawkeyes >:(

Even numbered conference members means we will now see some schools with 4 home/3 away conference schedules with the others getting 3 home/4 away...that will lead to loads of moaning and groaning on here about how someones favorite school got screwed by the scheduling Gods.  Then mix in a "we had to travel to Whitewater while you got Elmhurst at home" whining and you can see the page counts on here going up in a hurry ;D

Aside from teaching at EMU, I'm a Michigan man - I had totally forgotten WMU vs. the Hawkeyes!  (But I NEVER forget embarrassing losses by MSU! 8-))

I sure wish Central was playing at North Central Saturday (or any place else for that matter).  I've been waiting since I moved here in 1972 for Central to play a game in the Chicago metro area.  Finally, between last year and this three IIAC teams get to play within thirty miles of my house and none of them are the Dutch.  It ain't fair.  But enough of my whining, Go Spartans!!!

Beginning next year both the IIAC and CCIW will have 8 schools.  We could reserve one Saturday in September for an 8-game IIAC-CCIW matchup, like the annual PAC-MAC challenge in the East.
ncc_fan --  I must say that this is a fantastic idea (IMO); maybe the best I've heard in a while regarding scheduling.  Schools such as NCC, WC, IWU, UWW, Central, Coe, and Wartburg could benefit by not having such a difficult time filling a full slate of three OOC games; all CCIW, WIAC, and IIAC teams would benefit from generally stronger SOSs relating to their OOC opponents; and the three conferences would benefit from forming a "super-regional alliance" with similarly-minded academic institutions that may benefit all 24 schools in so many ways beyond the lines on the football field.  Give yourself a pat on the back.  Perhaps someone else can give you a karma point on my behalf.

The only problem might be that for the IIAC and the WIAC, the CCIW would involve "out of region games."  But after this year's seedings, I'm not sure how big an issue that would be.

Actually all games would be in region (same administrative region - NCC @ Redlands was in region!).  A bigger problem that might give some coaches, etc., pause is that Pool C almost requires a perfect non-con record - if you don't win the AQ, you'd better finish 9-1!  Since WIAC teams have to play UWW, and since NCC seems to be threatening to become the UWW of the CCIW (my bracket prediction is a Stagg of UWW over NCC - i.e., that NCC beats UMU IN Alliance), other teams might be leery of such high stakes competition.  The second place team in the WIAC or CCIW might be all-but-eliminated by the outcome of that game.  (Not saying that coaches would be ducking good competition, but there is 'good' and there is 'potentially suicidal'. ;D

CCIW is in the North Region ... IIAC and WIAC are in the West Region.

All games would be "in-region" per criterion #3 at http://www.d3football.com/interactive/faq/playoffs#8

65 -- welcome to being a playoff contender -- you gotta learn this stuff. :) How else is Dubuque-Augustana in-region?

Thanks.  There is a broader definiton of what is "in region" than I realized.

By the way ... where will you be tomorrow?

What's that all mean?  Absolutely nothing!  So let's get a win against North Central this Saturday...along with some good weather, so my wife isn't too mad at me for getting her up at 5am and dragging her all the way across Illinois to see a football game!!!
You cold just leave tonight & "Occupy Dubuque" so she doesn't have to get up early in the am!!

I got the details of the location of the alumni tailgate from a member of the alumni group. There are a few UD alumni who are tailgating as well, and theirs will be adult beverage friendly..feel free to pop over and bring something to share. I'll be in "coach" mode, so I cant really participate as much as I'd like, but will be looking forward to the atmosphere

Looking over the various Conferences on the Pick 'Em page, UD isn't getting much love  :-\ ... North Central is the overwhelming favorite.
