Congrats to all of the IIAC All Conference Selections, especially Matt Tschetter of the Knights. Many have read/heard his story. A great kid & truly amazing accomplishment!

Be on the lookout for the Wartburger burglar!!!

Too Funny!!!
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

He cooked himself a burger and fries. Who says college doesn't get people ready for the work world?

I think it's interesting that news outlets always seem to mention which college these people attend.  They are adults now.  If any other adult gets charged with that do will the news outlets mention where this person is employed???

I am of the opinion that local newspapers think it is important to let the locals know it isn't "our" kids doing the stupid things.  Rather it is those "good for nothings" from other places that are attending the local college.

May all you IIACers have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Safe travels to those of you who will be on the highways and byways over the next couple days.  I hope everyone has a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving.  I would invite you all over for leftovers, but after the Warthog clan attacks a turkey the only thing left will be bones and the gobble.

I guess I am obligated to include some sort of football talk; so here it comes:
GO-CORNHUSKERS!

I found the NCAA football attendance figures for 2011...http://web1.ncaa.org/mfb/mainpage.jsp?year=2011

Always a bit fun to figure out which ones are completely bogus vs which ones are somewhat accurate.  Is it my imagination, or are attendances in the IIAC going down overall???

Out of 234 D3 schools we have

8    - Wartburg : 4,500 (was every game standing room only?)
18  - Coe         : 3,568
36  - Dubuque  : 2,929
101 - Luther     : 1,892
128 - Simpson  : 1,618
142 - Loras      : 1,509
149 - Central   : 1,440
153 - BVU        : 1,431
164 - Cornell    : 1,322
228 - Grinnell   :    439

Our old friends at Upper Iowa had an average of 1,276 which ranked 132 of 150 in D2

UNI averaged 14,443 for 17th out of 120 in FCS
Drake averaged 2,770 for 110th out of 120 in FCS

Iowa averaged 70,585 for 21st out of 120 in FBS
ISU averaged 53,647 for 38th out of 120 in FBS

doolittledog:  At Wartburg we do not actually "count" the fans.  There is a very complex formula used to disclose the attendance figures.  First they count the number of students shouting insults at opposing fans from the windows of Clinton Hall.  They then calculate the number of fans who came to the stadium from Joe's Knighthawk, The Other Place, and The Fainting Goat by counting the number of "empties" found along Bremer Avenue and 9th Street.  The people who watch from the "W" are calculated by determining how many nose and finger prints are on the glass facing the field. The City of Waverly gives a fan count by monitoring water flow on campus during game time to determine how many times there are flushes at Walston-Hoover Stadium. (That number is "upped" when Central is in town since Dutchmen are not familiar with flush toilets.)  Finally the old guy who pulls the coaster wagon around the tailgating area counts the number of beer cans he picks up from the trash cans.  Putting that beer can number into some sort of complex equation, that only he knows, a "fan" number is calculated.  All these various counts are then combined into a formula that determines the attendance.  Surprisingly that number is usually divisible by 100.

I don't know if the games were standing room only, but the tailgates were.

Pre-game tailgates yes...post-game tailgates you could sometimes find some napping from too much fun from earlier in the day ;D

We don't call it "napping". We call it "preparing to rally".
