The interesting thing about this announcement is that, even though I think of myself as one of the world's biggest fans of NCAA division 3 sports, I didn't even know there was such a thing as the St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  But I wish Iowa Weslyan good luck just the same.  I have had some good times in St Louis and hope they do too.

Well its official, another all purple bowl.  I caught a glimpse of a few minutes of each game on ESPN3.com.  (Mediacom wanted $75 for PPV, free on the 'net.  I wonder how that worked out for them?)  Looks like MUC has a bit of a chink in the armer, Wesley was a good match for them and without a couple turnovers or a final possession meltdown, they may have been able to pull it off.  St. Thomas didn't have a chance, with Coppage and Blanchard plus that tough D, I'm picking Wisconsin by double digits.  Not that I care enough to schedule watching it.

This was a pretty slow year for the IIAC posters.   Other than the DBQ faithful of course, they deserve all the accolades this year.  With the other three powers having Sr QBs this year there could be another Spartan crown in the waiting, so you might as well start building up that over confidence now.

61 consecutive seasons without a losing season
IIAC/ARC champs 39, 45, 46, 56, 64, 65, 66, 67, 74, 77, 78, 81, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 89, 90, 92, 94, 95, 98, 00, 01, 02, 05, 06, 07, 09, 19, 21

I was able to watch most of both games on the big screen through my son's xbox. Was a pretty good pic. I too think WW should win by a couple of scores, but the two teams have played pretty even over the past few years. UST didn't have an answer today. They sure didn't look like a 13-0 team. WW is very fundamental. Appeared like a good call today by their offensive coordinator & some P*** poor D by the Tommies! Depending on my schedule next Fri night, may watch some of the game, but won't be a big loss if I miss it. If I do, hopefully the game will be more exciting than  UST/WW was today.

Were we watching the same game?? It wasn't UST's D that was the problem, it was their offense. Holding a back like #33 to 110 yds is no small feat. He's rushed for 299 in one stagg bowl against an outstanding D before.

The consensus on the WIAC board isn't that UST had a poor D. More that UWW had a great gameplan that they executed to near perfection. They were actually very complimentary about UST's front 7.

I think people just fail to realize how good UWW and Mount are when they're firing on all cylinders like Whitewater was today.

I will probably watch the game Friday night just because I am trying to get my money's worth out of my over-priced lousy cable package.  Plus, I want to know what to expect when I go to Salem to watch Central play in the Stagg Bowl in 2013.

If I understood the announcement correctly Michael Zweifel and Fritz Waldvogel are the two finalists for Gagliardi award.  I'm pulling for Zweifel.

Alex Tanney and Matt Blanchard as well. All four are finalists.

My bad, I thought I heard an announcement at the game Saturday that those two were the finalists.  I must have only heard a portion of it or misunderstood what I did hear.

Iowa Wesleyan has been accepted into the SLIAC.

The Tigers could be a future football opponant for a number of IIAC teams now that we need a 3rd non-con game to schedule.

Something tells me Coe won't be scheduling them anytime soon.

You've never heard of Washington University?  ???

Washington University isn't a member of the SLIAC, they belong to the UAA.

I don't seem to be able to get any straight around here today.

I hope you were just joking.  WashU is UAA.  SLIAC teams do of course often play WashU (especially Webster and Fontbonne, which share the city with them; I'm having a senior moment, but I think it is Fontbonne which is literally across the street from them), but in most sports it is a rather one-sided rivalry.  WashU and the SLIAC would not be a good fit athletically or academically. :P

I quickly looked through the Webster site and once asked the SLIAC board and no one seemed to know.  Maybe Mr. Ypsi will have an answer for me.  When did Webster add sports?  I was born in Webster and lived there until 1982, we had friends that worked at Webster (College in those days...University now)  I have no memory of Webster sponsoring intercollegiate sports way back in the day.
