Not that I need additional reasons to dislike Luther, but I have one.

I understand Newt Gingrich's current wife is a Luther grad.

I don't know what is worse: What it says about Luther; or what is says about the Newtster.
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

I thought the story went that Newt got drunk at a Wartburg football tailgate and when he woke up he was hungover and married to the Luther grad.  So you have no one to blame but...

You mean Newt didn't tell her he was a student of classic literature when he showed her his Balzac?

It'll be nice to have the Coe-Cornell game when the weather is a little more friendly. I was getting tired of those cold games late in the season... and yes I would like some cheese with my whine.

Its not football ... but that never stopped any of us on here!  Interesting piece from the NCAA about collegiate wrestling in Iowa ... and some good props for wrestling in the IIAC.

Hmm, it was there last night when I was at the office and not actually working...Maybe Cornell is having 2nd thoughts about leaving the IIAC ;D

If you go to the football section of the IIAC website and click on the composite schedule, and school...the drop down menu will give you all current IIAC schools...and Upper Iowa.  Why is that?  The IIAC website lists stats going back to 1999 but there is no drop down for William Penn.  Things that make you go hmm.

Hello, is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can hear me. Is there anyone home?

Listening to Floyd pretty early in the morning aren't you?  So you're feeling comfortably numb and have the munchies to boot???

Here is some IIAC expansion news from the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald...http://www.thonline.com/sports/local_sports/article_70b31d2e-43e0-5290-94c3-4bfde17b4332.html

It takes a subscription but here are snippets from the article...

The Iowa Conference has one eye on future expansion, but eight is a number the NCAA Division III league is comfortable enough with for the immediate future.

"As of now, the Expansion Committee has done some very preliminary work in gathering the key questions to be answered if we do go forward with replacing Cornell or further expansion," Yrigoyen said. "The group is now waiting for more direction from the (school) presidents, and I suspect that will come later this winter or in the spring."

"With our existing group committed to the Iowa Conference, our (expansion) timetable is pretty flexible," he said.

The IIAC's in-state expansion options are extremely limited. Grinnell, a basketball power, is satisfied with its place in the Midwest Conference and is the only Iowa D-III school not currently competing in the IIAC. Any NAIA school applying for NCAA membership faces a three-year transition process, which limits the attraction of moving to D-III for NAIA schools. IIAC bylaws require all member schools to sponsor 19 NCAA sports.

"From a current NCAA standpoint, yes, we are limited," Yrigoyen said.

With few viable in-state options available, Yrigoyen said the possibility of the Iowa Conference expanding beyond the state's borders is a viable option.

"In a broad, strategic discussion like this one, I don't think you take anything off the table," he said.
