I think St. Ambrose would be a better fit.  It would save some of our board members from having to get their parole officers permission to leave the state.

Yes X 3.  But they were all good games so I don't have a problem with doing them again.

The Dubuque Telegraph-Herald has a story sure to warm the hearts of most Wartburg fans...http://www.thonline.com/news/tri-state/article_5f776fe3-2123-5c5b-822e-c58cc6f84382.html?success=1

The East Dubuque mayor is lobbying to bring back the bars and strip clubs that the previous administration closed down to clean up their image.  Apparently the city has lost a lot of tax revenue ;D

UD and Loras hope that will jump visiting fan attendence from a 600 average to a 900 average at their football games.  At $6.00 per ticket x 5 home games that would be an extra $9,000 in ticket revenue per year due to E Dubuque bringing back some adult establishments ;)

I was at a family reunion in 1977 in Dubuque.  My sisters and a female cousin, practically pinned my arm behind my back and dragged me to a few East Dubuque establishments.  The one place we went had male and female dancers.   Being a poor Iowa boy I thought the bars closed at 2:00 am WRONG.  3:00 am I'm begging them to go back to the hotel because I had the big family reunion softball game to play in.  I was totally disgusted with the whole experience that I swore I would never go back again until the next time.

Don't you know that time spent in strip bars doesn't count? Einstein proved it. I don't know how many nights spent in strip bars has left me refreshed and ready to start the day.

I'm not into strip clubs either.  They make me uncomfortable.  But I also was drug to one by business associates in St Paul.  The only way I made it through the night and relieved the tension I felt was to create bio's of the girls as they were introduced.  So as they were dancing I'd create a story about them like they were college students majoring in premed working their way through school etc.  Anyway in Minnesota there is a law that the dancers must be separated from the audience by a glass wall.  So they dance on a stage behind glass and the patrons lick their money and stick it to the glass wall.  After the dance the dancer comes out and peels the money off the wall as well as moves through the audience hoping for more.  They usually get it because what fun is it to lick your money and stick it on glass as opposed to tucking it in their g-string.

That THAT ONE  brings back memories.....was there once underage before it burnt down due to my cousins obsession with a stripper named "Busty Brittany". My first experience and one I will never forget!  ;D    Disclosure Statement: I will add that I do not frequent those establishments anymore and have not for quite some time ;)

The Mint and Honey had the advantage of being pretty much 1st on Sinsinawa Ave after you crossed the bridge so everybody stopped in there, even NKD!!!  Kelsey Grammer was unfortunate enough to have his picture taken there and the owner used it in advertisements.  Now if you were really desperate you would make your way past Tuxedo's and visit the River Queen at the end of main street....oh that place nasty...at least my group can still embarass a friend of ours by retelling over and over at reunions the time he passed out in the bathroom trough at the River Queen and we had to fish him out of there.  Smelly ride home to say the least.

Ok, any recruiting news?  Coaching changes??  Any surprise news of players not coming back???

Will I still be able to tailgate at the Wartburg parents tailgate next season...will the old timers on this board still be there?  Any new tailgate recipes someone has recently come across??  What will we all do on 09/22 when the ENTIRE conference has a week off...go shopping with our wives...get some long overdue yard work done...take in a D2 or NAIA game in the state???

I plan on being at most of the home games this year, my daughter will be a sophomore at Wartburg so I am sure momma will want to go as well.  Yes you are welcome at the world famous Wartburg pregame tailgates.

I am trying so figure out how to implement football style tailgating at softball games now!!  8-)

EWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did anyone tell people about what kind of nastiness is on money? If you're lucky there is only a flu virus and some cocaine residue. You're safer licking the stripper, but probably not by much.

BTW, if you really want to make a stripper mad, tip her with loose change.

We did it for years with our daughter's high school games. That is what the area behing the outfield fence is for. On weekend tournaments we would feed the whole team between games. The other advantage of being behind the outfield fence is that you don't get thrown out for repectfully calling the umpire a !@$%&! after a bad call.
