Mrs. Warthog and I just returned from visiting all the Warthog children and grandchildren in Waverly and Cedar Falls.  We checked on the progress being made on the new home being built by Little Warthog's family.  Today the roofing part of the process was started.  I was fully expecting to see the next great Knight running back up there slinging shingles and running the air gun.   :D

Could anyone on the D3 board tell me the name of the last great Amish running back?  That's right the roofing is being put on by a crew of Amish men.  Talk about a downer.  I thought for sure I'd have a scoop for everyone.  Well maybe this year the Wartburg recruiting malfeasance will involve improper summer employment opportunities for an electrician or a plumber rather than a roofer. ;)

I'll keep you posted.

The amish may not make great running backs, but they can build a mean coffee table! At least you can be confident the roof over Little Warts head should keep him dry  :)

So if I'm a scam artist, I name my company Jedediah Yoder roofing company, grow a beard and wear a straw hat, answer "ya" a lot to peoples questions and I get to charge double for my services.  Which would afford me the opportunity to go to twice as many UD games as most years ;D

Ok, yeah, I would probably get found out pretty quickly.

As far as IIAC football goes, I can tell you guys are rubbing off on mrs doolittle.  SHE is the one talking about tailgating this fall all they way in May!!!

His wife enjoys tailgating at football games,
and when they return home, she insists on mowing the lawn;
even his tree houses have finished basements;
His mother has a heart tattoo that reads, "SON";
When he drives his new car off the lot it increases in value.
Though he can't walk on water he's never slipped on ice.

...he's the most interesting man in the world  ;)

All true...except the lawn mowing part...you'll never catch my wife mowing the lawn ;D ;D ;D

It appears both Luther and Coe are likely to be ahead of Wartburg in the combined all-sports trophy.  Oh well, it has been a good run.  Knights need to get the men's programs back on track.  Second division team finishes suck and cause all ran status in the Hertl trophy chase.

But just to stoke it up and draw the ire of our Cheesy-headed friends - cuz that's what I do from time to time - Folks from Iowa are Iowans, Minnesota - Minnesotans, California - Californians (or Left-Coast Liberal Wack-jobs if you prefer).

Wisconsin = ?

Wisconsans?  That makes no sense.  Wisconsinans?  Really?  Wisconsinians? Pfft.  Wisconsinites? Sounds like a luggage brand or a Kitchen countertop material.

Help me out here.

Iowans, Minnesotans, or LCLWJ's feel free to jump in.

8-)

Can't answer the question about Wisconsin residents generally.  I can, however, tell you what collective label we in Wisconsin use to refer to all WIAC graduates.  "Social studies teachers."

I don't think so.  Looks like Luther and Wartburg may tie again for the lead, with Coe being 3-4 points behind them.

Not sure if you will be able to see this properly.  Well yes you can, if you click the picture...

Swedish soccer team built apartment buildings with balconies overlooking the field into the corners of their stadium.  Good idea for a college to build dorms over looking the field?  Somewhat like at Wartburg...but closer?

I know, students probably wouldn't go into the stadiums but would likely party in their rooms...probably not a good idea.

Cool idea, but that would kill attendance in DIII.

I agree, attendance killer for D3...probably D2 as well.  I think it's South Dakota School of Mines that has home side seating, and then on the visitors side of the field they have tiered parking lots so you can watch the game like you were at a drive-in theater. Interesting, but something I don't think I would like if I was a player on the field...I would want everyone in the stands cheering.

In case anyone will be sitting at their computer at work tomorrow and want to catch the IIAC track & field championships from UD here is the link.  http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/dbq.portal#

One of the large dorm towers at St. Thomas overlooks the football field as well. I know there is definitely an attendance impact.

Is there an eastern D3 with dorms overlooking the field? Carnegie Mellon or something like that???

It would work out great for college kids. Just imagine, they can attend the game (sort of) AND drink.

Carnegie Mellon does, yes. Case Western Reserve also. RPI did at its old field. I'm sure there are others.

Here is a pic of the South Dakota School of Mines football stadium with the parking lot overlooking the field.

Honorable mention goes to their name "Hard Rockers"
