Seems to me that the teams are missing a nice revenue stream by not making sure everyone that should pay does pay. Not millions of course, but a couple thousand dollars that could be used for things like equipment or under the table payments. ;)

Make a bit more money on tickets and you wouldn't have to go to the trouble of lining up a summer roofing job to get a kid to transfer from Coe for his senior season ;D

Last year in Mt Vernon for the UD/Cornell game there were 2 kids at a table that were supposed to be taking tickets.  Everyone just walked past them without making eye contact and the 2 boys never said anything.  I felt guilty and paid my 5 bucks, but the 2 kids looked put out that I expected them to count my change back to me.

Five bucks!?!  Sure seems like it is $7 at Central.  And that is general admission.  If you want a reserved seat it is even more, like $8 I'm thinking.  No wonder Central games are so lightly attended.

I think we have an answer for Central and their attendence woes...there's no way it could be they just really don't care about the numbers they post ;)

I know BVU is $6 for adults with kids under 12 getting in free and senior citizens getting in for $3.  A friend of mine was able to take his wife, 2 kids, and his dad and get in at Storm Lake for a total of $15  That made the cheap skate really really happy...especially when he went to a Hawkeye game a few weeks later and parking alone cost $20 :o

I'm not giving up my lifetime pass to Kohawk sporting events, no matter what!

If Coe were to take away lifetime passes for former athletes in an effort to increase revenue (and keep their athletes from transferring up to Wartburg for their senior season)...coocoo looks so mean and grizzled he'd still get in free to Coe sporting events because the ticket takers would be too intimidated to ask him for money ;)

Realizing that pre-season All-America picks and polls are good for discussion and not much else, the BSN pre-season All-America D3 picks show 9 IIAC players in the mix.  They are:

1st Team:  QB Wyatt Hanus, UD; DB Demetrius Johnson, Coe.

2nd Team:  TE Miles Hookstead, UD; DL Frank Weymiller, Coe; KR Mason Nielson, BV.

3rd Team:  OL Richard Skaife, UD.

Hon. Men.:  LB Keith Rush, Central; LB Jason Shupp, Wartburg; DB Garrett McGrane, Wartburg.

When you name 200 players, it's pretty easy to get nine IIAC players on the team.

Don't feel bad. We had the same discussion on the MIAC board. As a general rule of thumb, preseason lists are pretty sketchy to begin with, but especially when you can't even recognize the name of the media outlet that's naming them.

Correct.  If there are 240ish D3 teams divided by 8 IIAC teams that would give us 1/30 chance and if there were 210 players on this list it would mean the IIAC would get 7 on by average...so 9 IIAC players on the list sounds about right.

What is shocking for most old time IIAC fans is that there would be Dubuque players on that list ;)

All I really wanted was to get some pre-season IIAC chatter going.

It's not because of how I look, it's because I'm Cuckoo. Chandler circulates an 8x10 of me each semester that reads, "Do not approach if seen on campus!"

We are 2 months away from the start of the season.

1 - Which team is the favorite?

2 - Which team/teams are in contention?

3 - Which team could be a dark horse contender?

4 - Which team could be worse than expected?

5 - Which team could be surprisingly bad?

6 - Any recruiting news?

7 - Any surprise transfers?

8 - Any players not coming back?

I had the good fortune to talk to a couple Wartburg coaches at a wedding and I belive the most accurate term is "cautiously optimistic", but what football coach isn't in June?
NKD: "We need a f**king touchdown, excuse my French"
FBD: "I didn't know touchdown was French."

The answer to the first 5 would be UD right?  ::)
Win or lose we still booze!!

1 - Dubuque...defending champion...only team of the top 4 from last season returning their starting QB

2 - Central/Coe/Wartburg...always

3 - Simpson went 5-3 last year...may be ready to kick it up a notch

4 - Well, if Central, Coe, and Wartburg are considered contenders...and Simpson gets better, then one of those 3 would take a step back.  I will go with Central for no other reason then they lost their AD and an assistant coach that was considered a good recruiter...so I would pick the Dutch over Coe and Wartburg

5 - Well...Simpson went 5-3 in their 1st year under Glogowski, followed by two years of 2-6, before another 5-3 year last season.  So maybe the expectations are high in Indianola but they will fall back to earth.

6 - I know nothing...other than UD says they have concentrated on recruiting linemen...There could be a school (not UD) that is making some headway in recruiting the Des Moines area.

7 - I know nothing

8 - I know nothing
