I assume all the schools have started camp???

Any new insight?  Looks like Wartburg has brought in a few QB's...any of these freshman have the potential to start?

I think anytime a team graduates a senior like that, the competition will be open to all, but I don't think we'll get too much info until scrimmages/pre season games start...and along those lines, what are the preseason/exhibition game schedules for teams?

putmeincoach

I believe Simpson is scheduled to scrimmage Grandview this weekend

They brought in six 1st year QBs.  I hope one or two of them have some potential.   ;)

That is their coach's philosophy.  He likes to get a lot of QB's sort out the ones that can play QB and then move the others to other spots to help the team.  It really makes sense when you think about it.  High school QB's are usually the most talented athletes on the team and they can move to other positions easily if they can not play QB for them

Welcome aboard B44.  I've always liked the setting for football at BV.  To me it was always a toss up between BV & Luther.  I guess it was whether one prefers water or trees & hills.  You both beat the train tracks at Cornell.

Love the setting at BV.  It's only getting better now with FieldTurf installed last year, new track, landscaping, concessions/ticket booth, new scoreboard, new lights and new visitor bleachers.  Really disappointed I played my last game there in November as the school seems to finally realize the importance of new/nice facilities.  Hopefully it pays off in future recruiting, though.

One of my high school and college football pet-peeves:  There are no "preseason/exhibition" games ... they are non-conference games and they count asmuch as any other game when you are aiming for play-offs.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Actually, many schools DO play a pre-season scrimmage/game.  But, yes, many posters confuse pre-conference with pre-season.

Actually, based on my experiences talking with current and former players, they just bring as many kids as they can period and let themselves weed themselves out through camp and the first season.

There are definitely pre-season/ exhibition games. for example, Central will typically play Will. Penn towards the end of camp, apparently simpson plays Grandview, etc....and these most definitely do  not count at all.

Cornell scrimmaged Culver Stockton, but the two schools quit doing this about a 5 years ago.  I'm not saying this caused the demise of the scrimmage but the low down and dastardly William Jewel sent coaches to scout the scrimmage.

I assume Wartburg will scrimmage Wisc Platteville again this year but I would not be surprised to see them switch to Wisc LaCrosse in the future since Coach Detweiler is there now.
Win or lose we still booze!!

I hit up Kohawk practice on my way home from work yesterday. I've never seen so many football players on the field. A little off season recruiting never hurt nobody. I wonder how many new guys stick around after a couple of days of realizing they're no longer "The Man".
