He probably thought he was going to Whitewater, but got mixed up when he heard the Warhawks calling out U DUB DUB & thus ended up @ U Dub(uque)

That was awesome by the way.  Reminded me why not to look at my phone while in the car!!!

Hello!  This fantastic weather we are having today makes me want to pack the cooler and go tailgate somewhere!!

I am just dropping by to let everyone know that if you want I can run the pick'ems again this year over on the pick-ems board.  I 'think' I have all my mistakes figured out from last year.  No promises though.  All are welcome to make pick-ems just make sure you have picks in by the kick off of that game.

On a personal note I am torn this year... I know guys playing for both the Spartans AND Dutch {gasp}  I am looking forward to watching both these guys play!!

Well I can't believe no one has said anything yet, but how did dubuque pull the Va. Tech transfer....he could wreak havoc in the IIAC. Looked to be pretty athletic even by D1 standards. What's his story? He was at one point a 4 star recruit...given this news and some other news I heard through the grapevine that returning 1st team IIAC LB and all-American candidate from Central may not be healthy to play this season I think the standings have to look like:

Two words: East...Dubuque  ;D

Sounds like he had a hard time transitioning from high school safety to college LB.  Dubuque is bringing in 3 freshmen from his area of VA, so I'm guessing UD has a contact down there spreading the word.  He will get to play safety at UD and maybe he can find his love for the game again.  All while spending time at a great school.  He is also listed as S/WR...remind anyone of a former Iowa transfer to UD from a few years ago...Walner Belleus???

As of now...and it can be a fluid situation...UD is showing 86 freshmen on the roster.

45 - Illinois
21 - Wisconsin
7   - Iowa
3   - California
3   - Virginia
2   - Arizona
2   - Maryland
1   - Indiana
1   - Nevada
1   - Sweden (a QB)

While Dubuque is close to both, I'm amazed at the degree of discrepancy among Illinois (up against the CCIW, and others) and Wisconsin (up against the WIAC and others) versus Iowa.  Has UD simply ceded Iowa to other IIAC teams??!!  Or is there something else going on?

I think you have to remember that Wisconsin and Illinios has a very large population base compared to Iowa.  Stealing kids from the CCIW is not that hard when you think that there are so many more kids available there.  The closest D3 Illinois college is Rockford if I am not mistaken so I would think that UD has an advantage over them for kids in the area.  I have not researched the count but I am guessing that there are about the same number of D3 schools in Iowa as Illinois so there are a lot more kids for the number of seats at a D3 school in IL than IA.

Im just curious as to what DBQ offers that a whitewater, or MT. or MHB or the other top tier schools don't.

His friends weren't going to those schools. Great facilities. Great coaching. Great future.

have we confirmed that the other recruits are in fact his buddies? That would 1 logical reason. However I asked what DBQ offers that the others don't and whitewater and MT. definately have great facilities, coaching, and future.

Is everyone aware that the WW coach as more NC than losses? That is mind boggling....

I vowed on Facebook to stop commenting on political and social issues and I'm carrying that over to my football comments. It causes more controversy when I don't say anything than when I do. ;)

Population of Illinois is 12.4 million population of Iowa is 2.9 million.  D 3 colleges are 19-9 as you state 2-1 rounded but population is 4-1.  I think my point is a valid one.

When NAIA are taken in the mix Iowa has 3 more than IL 14-11.  Small private schools are 30 in IL and 23 in Iowa.  I was pointing out that we have the room for IL or Wisconsin kids here in Iowa.
