seriously - I think Central may be in a rebuilding year

the Dutch are not accustom to finishing in the middle of the conference

with a tougher non-conference schedule and Cornell off the schedule...is there a possibility they end up around .500?

Oshkosh = L
Augustana = W
Albion = ?
Dubuque = L
Simpson = ?
BV = W
Luther = W
Loras = W
Wartburg = L
Coe = L

Now -  IF they go into Oshkosh and play well this may change everything!!

?????

Sir your prediction is like a mirror image of my thinking...almost scary. Somewhere in the past few pages I think I said something about how they can hopefully get 5 wins to keep the .500+ for 50+ years alive.

For arguments sake, I will say I don't see the dutch losing to Wartburg, coe, and dbq especially with 2 of those games in Pella...If I had to pick I'd say they pick off Coe and I could maybe even see Wartburg, but I see Ls in Osh-Kosh (playing there 2 years in a row sucks), Auggie could go either way, DBQ, and as much as I hate to say it, it is most likely a loss to either wartburg or coe.

This is all to get them motivated right?  Right?

Hey there sporting fans.

2012 hopes to be another in a series of steps toward relevance for my Duhawks.  Talking to people around the program there's buzz around the 60 freshman(doesn't every program buzz about their freshman?) but until we retain and coach those players until there is a buzz around them being seniors, I'm hoping to just be competitive.  Outside of hoping that Loras can get a few W's, I'm rooting for Simpson this year.  It sure beats thinking about the school that shall remain unmentioned across town.

Loras scrimmages today at noon and I'm hoping to catch some of it.  I'm thinking I'll come away from it knowing that Loras will contend for a national title this year.  Well, probably not.  The next 2 years are big for the new coaching cadre.

I didn't think you could say that word in Dutch country!....You would get along well with my wife; her middle name is pessimist.

Nice to have duhawk back on here.  Always like hearing from each school.  This is the time of year for optimism (except notlongago and mrs wartknight ;) )

Optimism? I can give a shot...Central, having all new players will catch Osh-Kosh unprepared, and steal one in Wisconsin. They will continue a rich rivalry by beating Auggie in Pella again. Albion will be the first team to feel the wrath of a team finally coming together. DBQ comes to town and takes down the dutch again due to homecoming distractions. Simpson is in for another beat down following the DBQ loss. Central then sets some defensive records in the process shutting out BV, Luther, and Loras in consecutive weeks (no disrespect to those teams,they're just most likely not gunna be able to compete w/ the top half), Central finally gets on the right side with Wartburg after several close/intense games, and they round out the season by playing for a C-pool bid in CR and take down Coe who never quite got their QB situation under control. Come mid Novemeber, the IIAC will have 2 teams in the playoffs.

How'd I do?

That wasn't so hard...now was it ;D

Coe vs. Monmouth
Dubuque vs. Augustana
Wartburg vs. McMurry
Central at UW Oshkosh
Simpson at UW River Falls

Many of these teams are receiving votes in the first poll.

Which IIAC team(s) come out of week 1 with a win?

Just letting you know we also have a pick-ems board for our conference.  Under "General Football"  you will see "Child Boards" and "pick-ems"  then find the IIAC page once in there.  My wife wants more of you joining in this year.  It will also be extra easy this season.  You just need to pencil in a W next to Dubuque every week ;)

Coe vs Monmouth...push...but I think Coe recovers from the loss of Boyle easier than Monmouth recovers from the loss of Tanney = Coe pulls away late.

Dubuque vs Augustana...DBQ doubles their 18 points against Auggie last year and gives up the same 13 points for an easy win.

Warty vs McMurry...Knight 4th teamers in after 1 series of the 3rd quarter...7pm start time = long tailgate by the Wartburg faithfull...few are still upright to see the 2nd half and crash that night in AEN's front yard!!!

Central @ UW-Oshkosh...same venue = same result as last year...sparking banter on here of Central on a downward spiral...premature talk as we will see by the end of the season.

Simpson @ UW-River Falls...Simpson wins big...sparking banter on here of Simpson on an upward spiral...premature talk as we will see by the end of the season.

BVU losses to UW-Platteville...coach says during postgame if Klopenheimer was still posting on here they would have pulled out the W

Loras will lose to Elmhurst as they are saving their starters for conference play...where they will climb to the top of the always tough IIAC...at least that is what idahosoccer told me

Luther...as always...plays St Olaf tough but loses by 5 points or less.  5WOL will provide witty comments to us afterwards

That week it will be announced that Morningside and Northwestern are leaving the NAIA for D3 and the IIAC...prompting Hazzbeen to come on here and say "I told you SOB's that would happen"  Having acknowledged that Hazzbeen was indeed correct I feel obligated to buy him a case of Grainbelt beer before the UD/Bethel D3 playoff semifinal in early December ;D

Ahhhhhhh, feeding the fire....more comments to motivate players and coaches!!! Better watch out!!!

On a side note, being a long time member of the Spartan Nation....I was thinking to myself how much times have changed with UD winning the conference and Loras finishing last. And then I thought to myself........... wait a second, Loras has never been at the top of the conference  :o

Uh oh.....more bulletin board motivational material!!!!  ;)

Fannosaurus Rex

Bulletin boards are sooo 20th century.  Where do you even get clippings?  Aren't all of the newspapers out of business?  I hope no one goes to the bother to print any of this stuff.  Modern teams probably link their Facebook groups to disrespectful blogs to get them motivated.

Guess who their favorite teams are  ;D

IdahoSoccer1 and KICKIN95 are Loras fans that show up from time to time when they aren't on the soccer board part of this site.

I am an IIAC fan with connections to Wartburg, Coe, Central, Dubuque, and Simpson.  So, I would like to think I am somewhat impartial.

PS – this is the first time I have ever participated in a message board of any type.  The civility of this board is not always present elsewhere.
