Norse fan here. A lot of positives looking ahead for Norse fb. Played 2 really tough teams and doesn't look like anyone in iiac is great. Title team will have 2 losses. Only bad teams are Loras and bv.

Luther played one average team, and one decent team....from NAIA. And they really didn't play that tough against Billy Penn...Go ahead and throw Luther into the group of BV and Loras.

This has nothing to do with IIAC football, but clearly has "Iowa" implications.  Watching the Denver - Pittsburgh game tonight ... I wonder ... did the Hawkeyes make a mistake giving up their more traditional uniforms for what I would describe at that ghastly black-and-gold?

That was a one time "throw back" uniform.  Next week we see the traditional Hawkeye uniform...hopefully with a better result.  If the Hawkeyes were to lose to both of the other state schools in the same year I might have to move out of state to get away from all the gloating from my neighbors  :-[

With an M.A.Ed. from UNI ... it wouldn't bother me at all to see the Panthers win this Saturday.
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Howdy, IIAC fans. Long time no chat. Just stopping in to say hello and wish everyone an injury-free season. I hope you all win all of your remaining games, except when you play Coe. Go Kohawks!
4 IIAC football championships
8 NCAA football playoff appearances
13 straight wins over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry west of the Mississippi

Anyone on here have any information on Carthage?  I see they are receiving top 25 votes and are 1-0 after playing Albion.  I don't think Wartburg has any history with the Carthage program but I could be wrong.
Win or lose we still booze!!

After last Saturday's loss by the Knights I've resolved to stay positive this week.   8-)
On a positive note, the Wartburg offense is averaging 36.5 points per game.   ???

AZD, saw jr. out there today, granted he was sprawled out on the field at the time, but he was out there.   :)  The woman sitting next to me said, "My, that 71 is a big player isn't he.  Must be why he is pushing the defense aside close to the goal line.   :)

Junior is a big boy. He's working through some bumps and bruises. He, along with everyone else, is ready to do their part for the team. The coaches are moving the line around, doing their adjustments. When Junior is in there, he does have the ability to move some bodies out of the way.
I have a habit of watching close to the O line. I'm impressed with how hard the line is playing. I really don't like the announcers considering them inexperienced. The majority of them are seniors. A senior should be ready to go. I would consider freshman and sophomores more of an inexperienced player.
Personal note: Mrs. Az and I are now empty-nesters. We sent the last of 6 off to college. 3 of them being big and O line players. It is sooo nice not to have my food bill be higher than all my other bills combined.  ::) ??? :o

I agree...maybe its the D3 in me, but I love seeing smaller schools play up a division and win. Or maybe its because I'm just tired of Ferentz's lack emotion and his attitude towards constantly losing to lesser teams, and if it happens enough maybe they will pay him what he deserves.

Didn't mean we would contend but think we will be in more games this year. Playing an average miac team is like playing a top iiac team this yr.  and billy penn is just hard to compare. Totally different style and athletes. Still think top 4 are set but think we will hang in there and maybe even beat one of them.

Feels odd to do this, as I have little love for Oles, but will offer that STO might be a bit better than "average." The Oles haven't lost outside the MIAC since '03 and last year were 8-2, including costing Bethel a spot in the playoffs.

Luther is an odd team to figure out.  For years now, the Norse are a competitive team that gives even the toughest opponent on their schedule a hard time.  They just never seem to get a win out of those games.  Luther seems to always have a 5-5 season in them where they always beat the teams they should and always lose to the teams that are expected to beat them.  Luther might have a 2-8 season in them this year and I don't think I would consider them a bad team.
