I think this helps explain:

"It is better to think of church in the ale-house than to think of the ale-house in church."

"Whoever drinks beer, he is quick to sleep; whoever sleeps long, does not sin; whoever does not sin, enters Heaven! Thus, let us drink beer!"

I've found a new hero in Martin Luther.

So in the last 10 years you have the party boys at Wartburg with 5 conference titles and the choir boys at Central with 5 conference titles...hmm

"When it's third and ten, you can take the milk drinkers and I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time"....Max McGee

Ha...I've always liked this quote.  I guess it depends on when the whiskey was consumed.  I've always found the Central stereotype funny too, as it doesn't really hold water for the most part.  I know the Dutch like to be totally focused on football during the season, but back in the day we might have made up for things after football was in the books for the year  8-)  Don't know what the company line is nowadays though.  Either way, good luck to the Dutch this weekend.

Sounds like its the same nowadays as well. Nothing at all during the season, then make up for lost time the night of the last game.

Glad to see the Dutch keep up the "company line". I'm sure the people I know personally who have consumed with football players in season there are just a fabrication. ;)

theres always exceptions when you're dealing with 150 college guys, but the majority follow the rules, and those that don't typically don't last more than one year.

We're talking about players that are 21 and older right ??  :P

Upper Iowa opened their refurbished stadium this past weekend.  Here are some pics.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/upperiowauniversity/sets/72157631503975636/

The place looks nice.  I would be curious to see how some upper tier IIAC teams would do against UIU these days.  I know a few years ago the Peacocks beat Loras 38-11 or thereabouts during a year the Duhawks were 2-8 overall.

The stadium is really nice. Most importantly, by looking at UIU's roster, they finally figured out that to fill it, you need to recruit somewhat locally and they have done so. Things definitely look on the up and up for UIU.

When they renovated the stadium the last time, with a roster filled with florida, CA, & TX kids, the stands were still bare. The new coach has done a good job especially considering he has to recruit people to come to fayettenam.

If you are talking about the whole team you can't be talking about 21 year old kids.

Video of Chris Norton at the Twins game this week.

And here is video from 1 year ago.

Chris is unbelievable!
I don't know if any would agree, but everyday each of us have to push ourselves in many ways throughout our days.
I would put myself at a very small percentage compared to how much that Chris has pushed himself. He is truly an inspiration!  :)

Bethel's up 35 - 0 at the half over BV.

BV can't get anything going offensively (25 plays for 43 yds). QB has happy feet and poor accuracy. Might be a long year for the Beavers

I thought it was a little quiet around here.  Central and Simpson with byes DU and Loras with 6:00 kickoffs.  That leaves Coe 20 Washington U. 14 and Warburg 27 Carthage 0.

On the down side Bethel 56 B.V. 7 and Wheaton 53 Luther 7.
