And BTW, I never thought there was anything cheap or dirty about the hit.  I just thought the heads conked and the flag was justified.  The picture doesn't show the impact that changed the receiver's direction and I still say that was head to head or at least face to head or head to chin.  I will wait for the report from CSI.

You can't tell either way from looking at that picture.  From the football I have seen so far this season, it looks like the officials have been put on notice to flag plays like this.  Like it or not it is our reality, so it's best not to put yourself into the position to get flagged.  I've seen plenty of flags thrown for each team just from the UD games against Auggie, Platteville, and Central.  The refs have been equal opportunity and throw flags against whichever team goes anywhere near a head.

Head injuries, and injuries of all kind for that matter, are part of this game.  They always have been and always will be, unless the rules are changed drastically.  Football comes with an inherent risk, and everyone who plays the game should know that.  To try to legislate the mitigation of that risk through these different rules about head shots and helmet to helmet hits seems like it adds such a grey area to the game.  You can see by that pic, and by just watching these calls play out every week that the speed of the game is too fast for officials to make these types of calls with any real sense certainty in all but the most blatant of cases.  Either way, I'm not sure there is a great answer.

Anyone notice the D3football.com Play of the Week?

Dadgum replacement refs...Bring it back, Clipping/Holding/illegal block (take your pick) in the back by Central #45 following the change of possession (see end zone angle)...receiver-turned-defender was trying to get up to give chase.

;)

And to think that isn't the play getting so much attention.   ???   Nice choice Pat.  In an up and down season, I like highlighting the positive.

I noticed ... UD makes the play of the week by being on the wrong end of a Pick 6.  Rats!
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Just another case of "the man"...or a big fat defender, keeping UD down ;D

At the 11 second mark you can see the Doolittle family between the 30-35 yard lines in the 1st row hanging our heads in disgust as Dutchfan1 and her significant other politely yell "woo hoo" next to us :'(

Don't rain on our parade!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)  That was legal all the way and you know it.  You are just not happy about not being in the conference any longer.  This is just sour purple grapes.   :) :) :) :) :)

That play was a great toss but as far as out comes I think the pick six was more timely and a game changer.  Both are equal in that Central could not have won without either play.

On a note about the pick 6 I thought it was interesting that the UD QB was trailing his lineman in chasing the interceptor on that play.  I would have expected him to hustle to stop the TD better.  I am not saying he could have caught him just thought there would be more effort.

It appears there could have been more hustle & better tackling on the toss play as well. #31 looks like he wants no part of the play.
