if we agree Coe/Dubuque is the game of the week.....which other game may be closer than we think?

Last year, Luther/Wartburg was a 3 point game.  Maybe this happends again???

I know it's a big rival game, but after watching Loras beat Luther, and then getting distroyed by Coe, I just don't think Luther has it in them.

I repeat, rain is the great equalizer.  The Knights better come prepared for Luther and let the UD game stay on the back burner until the team meeting Sunday afternoon.

An central fans want to weigh in as to why Josh Osbourn isn't the starting RB? He he's averaging 5.7 ypc vs 4, and has over twice the amount of total yards. If coach McMartin is upset about starting slow, why start with the "slow" running back?

Slow and steady wins the race/football game???  ;)

I fully expect to be holding my breath until the final horn.  If Wartburg has shown anything over the past 4 years it is the ability to keep games close.  >:(

I don't know how much credence you can give to Central's published starting line ups.  I have noticed Seth Carson is seldom listed as a started and I believe he has started since his sophomore year.  Also, Boerm and Eisler both continue to be listed as starters.  Isn't the old saying it's who is on the field at the end of the game anyway?

No he is the real starter as well as being the listed started...and in Central's case when you can't score in the first half, then nope its who starts the game.

Speaking of new facilities / fields, if your respective school's field has soccer lines on it...it doesn't count.  Just sayin.

No greater truth has ever been posted on this site.

Go ahead and keep thinking your institution wouldn't defile the football field by putting soccer lines on it.
The greater truth is that not all colleges can go out to the back 40 and 'trow down some soccer lines in the cow pasture.

To Doolittle's point about the visiting bleachers, my understanding is the Rockbowl was never intended to have visiting bleachers but Wahlert wanted to play there and high school rules mandate that there must be bleachers on opposite sides of the field.  I'll trust that UD fans have enough common sense to not fall off a cliff, plus it makes it nearly impossible for visiting fans to storm the field after a big win, it would take them 5 min. to get there.

UD fans won't need to storm the field after the game because it will be over at halftime  :o

entitled: "W" as in Wartburg, Weather and Wicked Witch of the West

The Coach named Willis doth hollered BAD NEWS!!!
The Norse are coming and we be dun scrood!!!
The Fans all calmbored with shock and surprise
we always beat Luther - why's fear in your eyes?
He lowered his head and said with great pain
As Dorothy from Oz found, we MELT in the RAIN. :o >:( :-[

Here is Central's first series drive chart vs Simpson:

C 1-10 C16   Clock 14:53.
C 1-10 C16   Brendon Boerm rush for 12 yards to the CEN28, 1ST DOWN CEN (Tyler Craig).
C 1-10 C28   Josh Osborn rush for 2 yards to the CEN30 (Tyler Craig;Mike Munson).
C 2-8  C30   Josh Osborn rush for 13 yards to the CEN43, 1ST DOWN CEN (DJ Bennett).
C 1-10 C43   Josh Osborn rush for 7 yards to the 50 yardline (Tyler Craig).
C 2-3  C50   Josh Osborn rush for no gain to the 50 yardline (DJ Bennett), PENALTY CEN holding 10 yards to the CEN40, NO PLAY.
C 2-13 C40   Ross Doehrmann rush for 4 yards to the CEN44 (Ben Borland).
C 3-9  C44   Brendon Boerm pass complete to Ben Lechtenberg for 5 yards to the CEN49 (Corey Sterling).
C 4-4  C49   Blaine Forsythe punt 33 yards to the SIM18, fair catch by Brad Vogel.

Doehrmann split out a lot against Simpson so I think the coaches are trying to find something that consistently works

Offensive consistency has been an issue -

When Central could not come up with a clear favorite at the QB position out of camp I thought this was a 'red flag".  Either everyone was so good they couldn't decide or none of the 3 or 4 showed enough to separate from the pack.

I "think" the real issue is the lack of a true downfield passing threat for this offense.  Both Doehrmann and Osborn have shown they can be productive and Currie can play as well so I'm not sure if the running game is a problem.

As the season progresses more and more teams will play against the run and try to put the Dutch in 3rd and long situations which seems to be an issue without a true passing attack.  They "snuck up" on Dubuque a little with the option but now teams have seen it. At times the play calling looks a little like a JR Football team:  Run, run, run hoping break a big one – pass only when absolutely necessary – and most passes are very conservative roll-outs – I realize this is based on what current personnel can do.  I just don't see the confidence in the passing game.  (not blaming the coaches – I can see why they have been conservative with the passing game)

Doesn't every team with a sub .500 record needs a QB controversy!  I would say put in the back up but I think they have already used every QB on the roster  :)

On the QB subject, Eisler is hitting on 62% of his passes (86% in his last 2 games!) compared to Boerms 42%.....For the life of me I can't figure out why eisler isn't playing QB and Boerm playing a "percy harvin" type role...he's a helluva wr and athlete in space. Why not let someone who can throw get him the ball AND throw down field? Its not like Eisler is a slouch in the pocket and completely immobile in his own right.

Eisler has been dinged up - I guess we find out more after this weekend - I would have a concern without a passing game vs BV this game may be an upset waiting to happen

I get down in the Coe neighborhood quite often for work and I have never been a victim of violence (attacked with a garden tool) but for those of you that have met me...I'm a large and intimidating figure and it would take a lot of guts to want to give me a hard time ;)
If you're ever around during the lunch hour, give me a call. As far as safety goes, they must be saying the right things to these recruits because they keep bringing in players (in high volumes).

You're dead on with that one. No need to advertise the negatives.
