Central gave Central fits when we played them.  I'm not making excuses, that is a game that I thought we should have won and we just had a disastrous first quarter on both offense and defense.  It was a game we deserved to lose and we got what we deserved.  I am referring to Willie's comments about how bad Central was for losing to BV and how much better UD is.  I am very realistic about how Central played this year, not sure the same can be said for fans of some of the other teams.  Other than Coe is clearly the best and not even Charlie is on here much rightfully pumping up how good they have done.

Central absolutely ran into a defensive wall that stole our bend, but don't break defense.  Dutch could not get points in the second half, but I tip my hat to the Dutch, I wasn't sure we would be able to hang with Coe at all, but we were in the game until that TD by Coe at the end of the 3rd, even then, the Dutch could get in scoring position, we just couldn't do it.

Congratulations to Coe on their undefeated season, best of luck to you in the playoffs.

I hear ya...just wanted to give you a hard time  ;)

No problem, Willie might have to go hungry anyway as UD comes back and ties it 28-28, likely will go to OT.

Congratulations and best wishes to all the players in the IIAC that finished their football careers today.  Hope you all have a successful finish to your last year of college and get out there and start contributing to the tax revenues.   ;)

Old Dutch

Congrats to the Kohawks for the 10-0 season.  I thought for a half there the Dutch had a chance.  Good luck in the playoffs.

Perhaps someone who has been following the iiac longer than I can answer this question: when was the last time there was a 5-way tie for runner up?

There was a 4-way tie for the title way back in 1978...BV, Central, Dubuque, Luther all went 5-2 in the IIAC that year.  It was also the LAST conference titles for BV and Luther.

If you want to go back a decade the conference standings look like...

Wartburg 63-16...4 titles
Central    59-20...4 titles

Simpson  38-41
BVU        37-42

Things could look different after next season for the decade with Wartburg and Simpson coming off 8-0 and 7-1 seasons 10 years ago while Central and Coe each went 3-5 that season...Dubuque was 0-8
Past 9 seasons and what the decade could look like after next season...

Very interesting to see these numbers.  I see a ton of parody here, and I'm not sure it's served the conference well from a perception standpoint.  Rough times for the Duhawks...ouch.  I can remember when they were a very tough out.
