One of you Kohawks can correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Weymiller transfer from Iowa State?

New football rule changes.

http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/ncaa/resources/latest+news/2013/football+rules+committee+recommends+ejection+for+targeting+defenseless+players

To require teams to have either their jersey or pants contrast in color to the playing field.

So we don't go more than a week without a single post ;D

As was noted this sounds like the Boise St rule.

But, what is the playing field?

Dubuque has a green field, blue endzones.  The Spartans often wear blue jerseys/blue pants at home.  Would that need to change?

Wartburg has a green field, black endzones.  The Knights often wear black jerseys/black pants at home.  Would that need to change?

Could IIAC officials choose not to enforce such a rule, like we are seeing some sheriffs announce they will not enforce new gun control laws?  Or, could a coach employ gamesmanship and about 30 seconds before kickoff, complain to the refs and try to get them to force Dubuque/Wartburg or whoever they needed to change their uniform to comply with NCAA regulations?  Or, if after a loss, then complain the other team did not wear contrasting colors and file a complaint?

Might be a problem only when an offensive unit is backed-up to its own endzone and the backfield blends in ... with an inept defensive squad.  Any defenses like that come to mind?
Reality is for those who lack imagination 😀

Actually I think it would come up when an offense is on the goal line, and receivers are running crossing routes in the endzone. Personally, I dont get the rule, but rules are rules, and a coach/player could use it to complain about receivers running open in the endzone.

Not a Kohawk guy but Frank Weymiller was a walk on at Iowa State.  He was redshirted and then transferred to Coe.  Good luck to him.  It's always neat when a DIII athlete makes the big time regardless of whether they are from the program you support or not.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was pretty sure there was some Iowa State connection with him.

To keep this a true D3 discussion I will ask this in two parts.  Discussed in the past, but possibly time to review again for both groups.

Questions:

1)  Should the IIAC expand?  If so, what colleges/universities should be invited?

2)  Should the Big 12 expand?  If so, what colleges/universites be invited?

My answers to follow after I give it more thought.  At this point, I'm thinking a little out of the box.

warthog is giving this A LOT of thought...it's been a couple of weeks  :D

Well with Warthog it could be one of two things.  Age or to much beer.  Both make you forgetful and chances are he forgot.   :) :) :) :) :)

dld & DF2004:  I hadn't completely forgot, but my mind has been over taxed with all sorts of scarey images of the LaPorte City Catwoman that I saw a couple weeks ago.  I haven't been able to concentrate since then.  Let me get through Easter.  Perhaps a long car ride will allow me to clear my brain and deal with the matters at hand.

I found a pic of the indoor practice facility going up at UD.

Very similar to the Sofield Family Indoor practice facility at Appalachian State

I like to think of myself as a fan of DIII so I am embarrassed to admit that I just learned that we are already on day two of Division III Week and I completely missed wishing everyone on here a happy National Student Athlete Day last Friday.  I don't know whose designations those are but I just read about them in today's The Maroon, the University of Chicago student newspaper.
