Seems like some of us D3 fans are getting ahead of themselves.  Comparisons to Big Ten Quarterbacks, and or perhaps Big ten Cornerbacks, to D3 level is no doubt a hug e gap.  Stepping up to throw against NFL Cornerbacks is a 3-4x expansion of that difference.  Nice to see 'em get a look, but neither one has much of a chance. Based on past successes, if you want an Iowa to NFL quarterback story, ISU is the place to look.

Let the discussion begin

Maybe I need to say something outrageous to get tongues wagging and keyboards tapping away with angry responses.

1 - Dubuque            7-0
2 - Coe                   6-1
3 - Wartburg           5-2
4 - Central              4-3
5 - BVU or Simpson 3-4
6 - BVU or Simpson 2-5
7 - Luther               1-6
8 - Loras                 0-7

UD finds an able relacement for Hanus and turns close road losses to Central and Wartburg in'12 into close home wins in '13.  Likewise, '10 close home loss to Coe turned into a close road win to Coe in '11,  turned into a close home loss to Coe in '12, will turn into a close road win to Coe in '13

Coe rolled through the conference last season except for a dramatic come from behind OT escape at Dubuque...same thing happens this year but this time gives up a late 4th quarter lead to UD at home.

Wartburgs come from behind 3 point win at home against UD in '12 turns into a 4th quarter lead that gets away on the road in '13...likewise, Wartburgs close loss on the road to Central in '12 reverses for the home game in '13 against the Dutch.  Coe once again steamrolls the Knights...Knights beat up everyone else in the IIAC in '13

The Dutch saw close home wins against Wartburg and UD in '12...those will turn into close road losses in '13...Coe puts a pounding on the Dutch.  Central gets revenge on BVU and Simpson with blowout wins as well as big wins against the rest of the conference.

BVU & Simpson lose a mess to graduation...can't find their mojo from 2012.  Both lose games to Central, Coe, Dubuque, Wartburg...both win games against Loras and Luther...one of them beats the other.

Luther turns a road loss to Loras in '12 into a home win against Loras in '13

Loras sees a home win against Luther in '12 become a road loss against Luther in '13

Luther and Loras have a Cornell type season in which they play everyone tough...they just don't quite have the numbers or size to compete week in and week out.  Both see few blowouts and play most games close but just can't seem to get a win against the competition.

For something truely outlandish...I actually agree with notlongago and his/her (I can't assume) assessment of the Dutch.  Last year was a young Dutch squad that returns their nucleus, plus sees the return of a couple of injured players.  That is a recipe for success.  The Dutch has the POTENTIAL to have a very good season.

At this point, I think a fan of any school, with the possible exception of Loras/Luther, can make an argument for their school seeing some success this year.  We just need to see the variables come into play.  Key players actually showing back up to campus, new starters actually developing well with the teamates around them, the ball bouncing the right way at the right time...things like that.  And who knows, we might see the entire returning starting lineups of Iowa/ISU/UNI transfer en masse to Loras/Luther and really shake up the conference.

Coe fans should see sunny skies on the horizon

Wartburg fans have to like getting Central at home and believe their Knights always find a way around Dubuque...even Steven King couldn't write a horror story gory enough to make you think Simpson could find a way to beat their favorite team a 3rd year in a row.

Simpson fans have seen coach Glo get their team turned around and even with the loss of 20 of 22 players on the defensive 2 deep have to feel like they will see continued success.

BVU lost their 1st 5 games and then won 4 of the next 5 with their only loss coming in OT after giving up a big lead.  That says something about the coaching staff and the character of the team to not have given up on their season.  They should feel good about their future.

Ok, enough of the spreading of good cheer...Dubuque Spartans steamroll their way through the conference this year ;D

DutchFan2004

Now for something really outlandish

BV 10-0

Loras 9-1

Luther 8-2

Coe, UD, Wartburg, Central, and Simpson all 5-5.

This is in the realm of when pigs fly ( not including the GIECO pig on a plane  ;D ;D ;D) :o :o :o :o :o
