Here is an article on Chris Norton.

http://www.kwwl.com/story/22425862/2013/05/26/chris-norton-helps

Mr Norton continues to impress.  30 hours of physical therapy per week, still in school and now a junior at Luther, has started a foundation that provides equipment and grants to hospitals and rehab facilities for spinal cord injuries.

I need to keep Chris Norton in mind the next time I'm complaining about my little aches and pains or think that my work load at the office is too much for me to handle.  That kid has a full plate in front of him, with big hurdles to overcome  and does it all with a smile.

Conference Only:
Central 6-1
Coe 5-2
Buena Vista 5-2
Wartburg 5-2
Dubuque 4-3
Simpson 2-5
Luther 1-6
Loras 0-7

As far as I'm aware for starting QB's:
Simpson = Taylor Nelson
Buena Vista = Bobby Brown
Central = Aaron Eiseler (I'm assuming)

Wartburg I'm guessing will have a quarterback battle between JJ Hanus and Logan Schrader
Dubuque, Coe, and Luther graduate their starters and not many people have talked about who they have heard will be the starter for them this upcoming season

Coe will hand the keys to Atwater.

dang...I know you meant that as a positive, but its more of a downer....over 3 months still and Bball is almost over. That means that dreaded baseball only time of the year is coming up... :-[

Wartburg is putting in new turf.

That turf was looking worn out.  Now, will Wartburg replace their pink track???

About time....for such a nice athletic facility, their playing surfaces (track included) are terrible.

And in more news with possible implications for the Iowa Conference.

St. Ambrose looking to start a Catholic only league.

Article mentions Grand View and William Penn would be looking for a conference.  It goes on to say Grand View would likely look to the Heart of America Conference, which includes Graceland and colleges in Missouri and Kansas.  Makes no mention of where William Penn might move or if St Ambrose might try to lure Loras away from the IIAC.

I know preseason polls don't mean much ... but Sporting News is out with rankings for D-3.  The top 10 are:

1. Linfield
2. Mount Union
3. Wisconsin-Whitewater
4. St. Thomas
5. Mary Hardin-Baylor
6. Wesley
7. Wittenberg
8. Wisconsin-Oskosh
9. Johns Hopkins
10. North Central

Other midwest teams of interest ... 13. Bethel ... 16. Wheaton ... 20. Coe ... 24. Wisconsin-Platteville.

Just some grist for the mill.

GO SPARTANS!

All the work it took to win all those national track championships must have worn the color right out the track.  ;D

The plan is to replace the track after the football field is done. I do not know what color, but after 2 tracks have gone from Orange to pink maybe they'll use the other school color.

Aaron Kampman on Coach Ed Thomas
I believe his greatest legacy comes not in how many football games he won or lost but in the fact that he was a committed follower of Jesus Christ.

I prefer the other college football preview on the news stands, Lindy's Sports.  They make Central #17.  Go Dutch!

There's a lifetime of 8-10 years on most of the new turfs. Schools are well aware of that at the outset.

Was Central's turf under waranty?

Yes, there was some defect in it (something about excess shedding) and it is getting replaced under warranty.

Is Central's campus located in the country? I noticed a red barn in the background?
