Former Central AD Al DorenKamp, who had retired... a Central Alum, former All-American football player at Central, is named the AD at AIB in Des Moines.

Is there anything to read into that???

As a kid (late 50s early 60s) I remember driving from Iowa City to Dubuque on 151 there were a lot of curbs on that road.  I like to take the scenic route on old U.S. 6.  and old old U.S.218, now County roads they still have some curbs.

He's 62.  Perhaps retirement's boring.

I don't think there's anything more than what's on the surface. He's a great person, hard working, and it's no surprise he didn't stay in retirement for long.

Ok, that's pretty much what I figured, but I thought I would throw it out there and get some comments from those in the know closer to the situation.

Sports media or media in general? Im about ready to throw up after this zimmerman fiasco. There has been about 7% of the truth reported (on both sides) and more spin than ive ever seen...short of an election year.

Nancy Grace is raking in the dough.  I see the Arias person will be back on tv.  I would rather see Whitey Bulger.

Sure, Al is terrible at being retired.  Just don't see Cribbage and golf meeting his competitive nature.

I don't know. I have been in some pretty intense Cribbage games in my life!!!

Congrats to Coe for hitting the board on the D3football.com Top 25 2013 preaseason poll.  Here is hoping for the IIAC to make a good showing against the non-conference schedule and get a little more love when it counts.

And speaking of hitting the board, I believe there are some big deal races at Prairie Meadows this Saturday.  I can't find the entries but I know Solar Flair was nominated for the Juvenile.  I was a fan of his daddy (Sun King)  and grandpa (Charismatic) so I will try to get a litte something on him if he runs.

Stopped at Wartburg today with my son and took a look around.  Here he is wondering where the pink track went...
