...in all seriousness - Is Austin Morgan still on campus?...will he be with the team this fall?  I am not looking for dirt or rumors, just wanted to know if he will return.  I was looking at some of the leading stat returners in the IIAC and noticed he was not on Dubuque's roster.  Very good player and someone I thought would be a big part of the Spartan's offense this year.

I was curious why Austin Morgan was off the roster as well.

Last fall I was told that Mr. Morgan was Mormon...I was also told he was from Hawaii, so when I saw on the roster page he was from Nevada I never gave the info much thought.  It was only after Willie made his post a few days ago that I remembered all that.  I don't know for sure he is on his mission trip, but that does sound plausible now...Willie usually knows his stuff.  I am curious now if these are 1 or 2 year mission trips, and if he will eventually come back to the team.  He seemed like as good a kid as he was a football player.  Always nice to have those in the program.

ok sounds plausible....but it's odd that Dubuque would remove his name from last years roster

I'll go with what the Spartan faithful say as I have no idea why

thanks

So, I answer the first question and people think I am just feeding some BS.  ???

Yes, he is Mormon and doing his mission. He went home 2nd semester and attended the local community college and then was leaving sometime this summer I believe. Not sure the length but I believe it's a 2 year mission but that part I am not 100%. I've known for a while so have had plenty of time to mentally adjust to the talent loss. BUT, good news is, Spartans have lots of talented WR's but I suppose they won't need them running the wildcat anyway ;)

Morman missions are 2 years. A student where I teach accepted a football scholarship this spring to the University of Hawaii but said in two years when he gets back. Another was a scholarship waterpolo player at UCLA, played one season and left for 2 years then returned to finish his playing and degree.

Person...and I suppose to an outsider what you wrote could sound like BS at first glance...at least if I had been the one that wrote he was on a mission trip...I'm never serious on here.  You, however, always have the straight story.

Willie, if you bring me some deer meat to grill up this fall, I'll supply you with Cedar Ridge samples or Reinbecker beer...or if you can't partake in that I can fry you up some wings  ;)

And on a side note, apparently it's not considered good form to tell your brother-in-law to not get married during the fall, because it's football season.  You also aren't then supposed to lobby for an Oct. 19th wedding date because that is a DBQ away game at Coe and that would be the least inconvenient to me...who knew :o

They already reported this but the pictures are nice.

Being an old guy and against change, I don't like the extra logo on the 30 yd line.  The big C in the middle was enough, the rest makes it too busy.

What I don't know is, who are the players?  Aren't there rules about when guys can suit up and be out there with people who look like coaches?

What do you consider "old"?

I personally love the 30 yard logos.....but then again im all about flash. More logos, new unis, etc. Im all for it.

And that appears to be one of the team camps Central hosts for various high school teams.

I am indifferent about the logos on the field and new unis (depends). However, a change like new unis and new logos does generate spirit for the team and they say 'if you look good, you play good'. On the other hand if you do not win, those unis and new logos are like pencils without lead, pointless!

UW-Stevens Point plays their home games at a public facility.  So when the switch to artifical turf was made the city sold advertising to help offset the cost.  As a result the field has numerous advertisements on it.  There's a big one on the fifty yard line and smaller ones on the sidelines and in the corners of the end zone.   The current field is a vast improvement over the old one which by the end of the season was pretty ragged so I guess you do what you have to do to get it done.

The C's at the thiry are pretty tame in comparison.

What the heck is going on in Pella???

1st we have notlongago tell us the "short hair" rule is out and to expect a bunch of long hairs in Central gear this season.

Now we have the Dutch installing turf with logos all over the place?!?!

I think we are about to see a seizmic shift in the look of the Dutch fan base.

From what Fannosaurus Rex and the rest of us are used to seeing...

...to what notlongago would like to see...

It will still be a sober bunch...but they'll rock!!!

doolittledog

Loads of stuff going on in Pella.

And loads going on in Waverly as well.

New turf...check

New track...check

New unis...check

Somehow, I think we will still see the same ole fanbase up in Bremer County though...
