Central:

Pros:
6-5th year seniors, including one who missed last year, but was a pre-season AA last year.
Returning nearly all skill position players (and seem to have the QB situation settled)
Return large majority of defense

Cons:
Lost a very good linebacker
....theres probably more, but i can't think of them off the top of my head.

Recruting: Probably similar to the other "2nd place" teams...around 45 it sounds like, more than a few all-staters, etc.

Should be an exciting year (barring injury)

I heard coach Mac's radio show and he does not seem to want to commit to a starting QB again....what are you thoughts on this?  From what I saw (a few games) Eilser seemed to be the guy, but every week and now into the next year he keeps throwing in the Boerm name and even others.  notlongago - do you think this has any affect on Eilser's psyche?  I know the "no one is guaranteed a starting job" and "everyone has to earn their spot" coach speak, but this has gone on a long time.
I heard Coach Mac (ironic I know) at Texas talking about David Ash and seemed to be over-selling him as the starting QB.  Two different philosophies I guess.

Coach Mac is already doing radio shows?  I'm sorry I missed it.  The athletic department is usually pretty good about announcing those things.

It seems to be his MO that before and during camp every position is "open". I recall hearing him say the QB position was open even when Connel and Snead were at the helm.

I wouldn't read into it much at this point. It was pretty evident last year Boerm cant really throw it, and Eisler can. Boerm can be a weapon at WR...not sure Eisler can.

Boerms younger brother will be on campus for Central this year as well...WR that is 6'7" could be a real weapon.  He will also play basketball.

I heard rumblings of big target WR on campus...didn't realize he was a brother of a current player. If his older brother is any indication, the younger Boerm could be a real asset.

Good for Central.  That scoreboard will be a nice addition, and good to see local business involved in the support for this project!

Hopefully the fact someone else paid for it will keep some of the, shall we say, "fiscally conservative" alumni at bay.

Read; hopefully the alumni that think any money the college spends should be on arts programs and not athletics, will keep their mouths shut. (Although that didn't happen w/ the free field turf)

The same thing happened at Wartburg this summer while they were putting in their new turf.  Some Facebook posters were upset despite Wartburg noting the turf was 10 years old and typically the lifespan for turf is 7 years and that was factored in the budget.  There are always those that will never understand the roll sports plays in advertising a school.  It is the way many potential students first hear about the school.  Additionally, for those that get involved in campus life during their student years (athletics, the greek system, student government, arts programs) have great memories of their school and will be more likely to donate to that school later in life than someone that did nothing but go to classes for 4 years and then got out of town afterwards.  End of rant.

The musical types are welcome to enjoy the new turf.  All they have to do is form a marching band.  The dance team puts it to good use expressing themselves.

I would like to get a discussion started on the top 3 by position for 2013.  I would like to hear everyone's opinion -
