I would like to get a discussion started on the top 3 by position for 2013.  I would like to hear everyone's opinion -
a few guidelines
1) only 3
2) no ties
3) no explanation needed - make it short and sweet

2013 Preseason top 3
QB
Nelson - Simpson
Brown - BV
Schrader - Wartburg

Nelson
Atwater (based mostly on "hype")
Eisler (slight homerism here, but he'll be efficient)

Duhawkin

2013 Preseason top 3
QB
1 - Nelson - Simpson
2 - Atwater - Coe
3 - Joes - Loras (Being hopeful :D)

How does everyone think the IIAC is going to do in week 1?

I predict 4-4 with wins by Coe, Simpson, and Wartburg and then a win by either Cetral or DBQ... I just can't believe the IIAC will go 0-3 vs the WIAC. And for definitiy sake, I'll take central over osh kosh( because its a home game....and central did well vs the second string last year LOL)

Central will have their hands full with OshKosh.  I was at the game last year (my brother-in-law lives in Green Bay) and although Central somewhat handled the 2nd/3rd stringers many of those players will still be 2nd or 3rd string this year.  Wara is gone and not doubt a huge factor in last years game but Myhra did not play much of the 2nd half.  The defense lost a lot to graduation so hopefully the Dutch can score some points. The OskKosh offense returns a lot.  If Central can pull it off it will be a huge victory to start off the year. - not saying it can't happen

Loras = L
Coe = W (tough game)
Simpson = W (I'm only about 60% on this one)
Wartburg = W
Luther = L (just not confident in the Norse yet)
Central = L (hope I'm wrong)
BV = L
Dubuque = L (again...hope I'm wrong)

If the IIAC comes out .500 or better should be a good year for football

Loras - Loss...away game at a 2012 playoff team that beat Coe
Coe - Win...away game should make it close, like last year, but I think Coe has enough to get the W
Simpson - Win...Iowa Wesleyan was a bottom feeder at the NAIA level...I don't see things changing for them in D3 soon
Wartburg - Win...name the score.  This is a good Wartburg team against a REALLY bad MacMurray
Luther - Win...Presentation is a new program, spent 1 year in a bad D3 conference before switching to the NAIA.
Central - Loss...I want Central to win this, and the game is in Pella, but hard to get last years beat down out of my head
Buena Vista - Loss...BVU has lost how many years in a row to UWP?  And the Pioneers are picked to win the WIAC this year
Dubuque - toss up...game in LaCrosse favors UWL, but that is also a program in turmoil from what I read on the WIAC boards

Cant really argue any of that. The only thing i can guarantee is it wont be 50-0 at half again (right....? right...........?)

Walston Hoover Stadium  news. Who's paying for all the upgrades.

Some of those upgrades sound awesome. I love all the improvements happening in the IIAC lately. One question: why gray track? Why not black and orange?

I read with interest about the new scoreboard and video screen at Central College.  Like doolittledog mentioned this will be a great addition to the stadium.

I also read it will be the biggest video screen in the IIAC.  That is really cool.

However, the designation as the largest in the IIAC is a title they will only be able to claim for two weeks.  I just returned from a Wartburg Booster Club event.  It was announced Wartburg will be installing a larger video screen at Walston-Hoover Stadium.  It should be ready for the first home game this fall.  I'm not familiar with college scoreboards, but we were told the one at Wartburg will be a twin of the one at UW-LAX.  Apparently the Wartburg Track & Field coaching staff was impressed by the UW-LAX setup when they saw it at the meet up there.

Don't they like to use those big screens to show celebrities in the crowd?  I guess that means I will have to try to remember to keep my gut sucked in when I'm at Schipper Stadium.

How many wins does $250,000 get you? I guess we will find out...

Hopefully the Central students get back into the game day atmosphere, that has been lacking quite a bit in the last several years, no?

I like the new scoreboards going into IIAC stadiums.

I like the idea of employing students for Knight Vision.  I am curious about the word "premium" in that story.  Will this be a subscription service?  I won't pay to watch Wartburg.  They mention live streaming 5 football games and 5 basketball double headers...will they be archived to watch later???  Most of the rest of the conference uses Game Central which is a free service and archives games for you to watch at a later date.  I hope the Wartburg venture gives us something as nice as Game Central.  And please, please, please use this money to train a camera operator to actually move the camera and not just sit on a view of the 50 yard line while the game action is down by the goal line!!!

Nice to see a significant amount of money put into softball and baseball fields and their infrastructure as well.  I always like to see nice facilities for all of the sports and not just the big dogs.

Wartburg "Premium" coverage means it will be a multi-camera production -like Wart TV has done once a year for cable TV and student experience. No charge- just better.
