We have yet to see Central helmets ...please, please, please let them be something like Maryland (another Under Armour school) so this board can go into meld down mode  ;D

I wish we could sweet talk Pat Coleman into releasing Kickoff early so I could spend my weekend looking over that preview instead of yard work!!!

There wouldn't be enough defibrillators in Pella to handle the heart  palpitations from a Maryland type look.  That white collar is about enough change for us old alums!

Someday new alums will become the "old alums" and then we can get some more original designs, but until that day, these are a good step forward.
When the new alums get to be old alums they won't want anything to change either.

I cannot speak for my peers, but I know I wish Central would be more of an early adopter, rather than a laggard for up and coming trends (not all, but enough to stay relevant w/ recruits), and I will remain that way as long as I follow the team.

So what changed with the new uniforms? Looks fairly vanilla to me?  ???

Just hope the new unis leads to a winning record or they might hit the trashcan!  :'(

Come to think of it, I didn't mind when they started passing more than 10 times a game.

Central has its 2013 roster up on its web site.

Which team has the most difficult pre-conference schedule?

I'd say DBQ or central. DBQ plays half a WIAC schedule, and the Dutch play osh kosh, auggie, and Albion.

Central has its 2013 roster up on its web site.

When I look at the roster, my first thought is that they might lack a little size.  Then I pull up the rosters of other IIAC teams (Coe and Wartburg), and I really don't think that holds true in comparison to the competition...at least not with an unscientific eyeball test.  Then I pulled up the two gold standards (MU and UWW), and it appears that all 3 of arguably our best programs in recent history lack size in comparison (especially in comparison to UWW, and especially in the trenches).

Has this always been the case?  I went to look for some of my old media guides from the early 2000's and I'll be damned if I could find any of them.  I'm fairly certain those Central teams had more size in the trenches.  Has anyone else noticed a trend towards rosters with less size, or am I wrong on this (I very well could be...us old timers have a way of thinking we were bigger and badder than we really were)?

Size certainly isn't everything, and I know there is a difference between size and "good size."  That said, it's nice to have the right kind.

I don't know if I would consider the central line small this year. They will all go between 265 and 295 (which is bigger than the past couple of years) Not to mention the type of offense central runs requires athletic lineman capable of moving, not just big bruisers.

I believe good coaching and fundamentals will more than make up for 10-20 lbs.

Hey, whats up guys? Back on the board after a few years and a different moniker. Central DB 02, 03, and 05. Missed half of 03 and 04 with an ankle injury. After CUI, there were a few government paid expeditions to the less desirable spots of SW Asia and now I'm finally back in Iowa and able to take in a full IIAC season. Gotta say that the new Central unis, while not revolutionary, look pretty good...

I'd go with Buena Vista with having the hardest. They start off with Wisconsin-Platteville whose ranked #11 by d3football, Concordia-Moorehead who received votes, then #8 Bethel

Kickoff 2013 is live!

I feel like this is our best Kickoff yet: We got some new writers involved, including for the IIAC, and really made sure our continuing writers elevated their game. And ours.

This is the only time we ask you guys for money for anything, as I'm sure you realize. It's more than 300 pages of Division III preseason football knowledge and it's the only place you can get all this stuff: Our previews, our rankings, Keith's analysis, the whole 10 yards. http://www.d3football.com/notables/2013/08/get-kickoff-2013

$11, or $7 if you still have access to a .edu email address. (Meant for active players/students and coaches but hey, we know you guys on this board are loyal to D3football.com and we appreciate it.)

As much as I enjoyed writing the IIAC previews a few years back, it's good to have an IIAC person do it. We've struggled finding the right newspaper writer and I like what we came up with much better.

True...I guess I took "hardest schedule" to mean "what contending teams will have the most competitive games in the preseason" which are two totally different questions.
