Luther's old pool now turf

Did they build a new pool or just decide to get rid of it? UD did the same thing a long time ago and turned the pool into the weight room, now half of the wrestling room. I wish I could have seen the  construction to see how the floor was built.

BTW, only 1 day until IIAC kicks off!

It looks like it will be a hot one in Pella Saturday.  Seems like I used to hear complaints about how hot the old field used to get.  Any chance the new one plays cooler?  If I was going to the game, I would bring out the big guns, the SPF 50, and maybe switch sides each quarter so I get evenly broiled.

There will be a pick-ems again this year.  Get your picks in before kickoff.  Apparently Mrs Doolittle was too shy to post earlier today.  She was saying that if you don't get picks in before the Loras game on Thursday to not worry.  Only that game wouldn't count, as long as your other picks are in before their kickoffs.  So even if you missed the 1pm kickoffs on Saturday, if you get your other picks in before the 6pm kickoffs those picks will count.

Tell one, tell all to get in on the pick-ems this year.  Spoiler alert, I will win because I will pick Dubuque to win more often that others on this board ;D

Anyone going to La Crosse Saturday?

Too many chores around the house this weekend.  We're making all the UD home games and then planning on the trip to Indianola for the UD/Simpson matchup later in the season.  I will have been to every IIAC campus after that trip!

Game day in the IIAC.  From the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald...

http://www.thonline.com/sports/local_sports/article_00b95299-48f7-5da0-acb4-0c1d784696da.html

From the article...

Outlook: The Duhawks went 2-8 in 2012 but open the season expecting success and hope to rely a little less on sophomore running back Nate Carrier, who led the Iowa Conference in rushing a year ago with 1,210 yards, but who played sparingly in last year's opener against Elmhurst. Balance would be a positive for the Duhawks.

Elmhurst is coming off its best season in school history at 10-2 and won a share of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin for the first time since 1980 and became the first Elmhurst team to qualify for the NCAA Playoffs, where they defeated Coe College in the first round. The Bluejays, however, must replace seven starters on offense and six on defense in Joe Adams first season as head coach.

Elmhurst will not be as good as last year guaranteed. That bodes well for Loras. I think they can keep it closer then last year but Elmhurst will still win. However, if the Loras offense can grind the clock and capitalize in the red zone and win the turnover game, I think they can win.

Again, I expect a major fall from grace for Elmhurst this year.

Mrs.Doolittle

Looks like my husband volunteered me to keep track of the picks again this year so as long as no one has a problem with that I am happy to do it!!

There is a game today but if you don't get picks in before tonight's game that is OK, you can still get picks in for the other games and tonight's game will just show up as a loss.

This is just a FUN thing we like to do.... I always start out good and end terrible!

It may be cooler, all depends on the materials. A recent trend has been to replace the black rubber pellets with cork when installing a new field. Same net affect in terms of footing and durability, but the cork is supposed to absorb much less heat. But I obviously have no idea if Central used the cork or not...
