Good game today by the Dutch in lousy weather.  Central needs to be able to capitalize on great scoring opportunities, but played a nice solid full game.  Good warmup for next week at UD.  Keep DD away from that lucky lawn mower next Saturday.  Great game for Osborn and Eisler today.

Central College gear spotted at the Best Western in Fairfield. Maybe it's Klompen :-)

Nope, meditation is not going to help with next week.  I like what I am seeing from the Dutch this year, greatly improved over last year in every game thus far.  The Dutch players have got to be looking to take care of conference business and put away thr Duhawks early to keep those UD fans from playing what if scenarios again this season.  No triple OT or late game pick 6's.  Time to let them out of the what if nightmares and dominate start to finish.   ;)

A woman can dream, right? ;)

To be fair, not a single Dutch poster said the Dutch should've won...unlike certain posters last year claiming UD should've won ;-)

This is true. Although I laughed at the rip, I just recall Central fans coming on and saying nice first half, a great team should have closed it out. W/o looking I don't remember what-if's.

Really looking forward to Dutch/UD game this weekend. Both teams much improved compared to last year. Each team has weaknesses where the other has a strength. Could be a very entertaining game. At the end of the day though, the Dutch rarely play well at DBQ so I have a feeling UD comes out on top. Had the game been played in Pella, I would lean with the Dutch, however that's not the case.

Some interesting match ups will be between the fast, swarming, blitzing Dutch D vs. the DBQ oline & the DBQ QB/receivers vs. a Dutch secondary that has been known to give up the big play.

There were what ifs against Oshkosh, but why cry over what wasn't.  We lost the game and just needed to play better.  A tough loss to a great team that made the plays when it counted.  You put the loss behind you and move forward making improvements where the weak spots hurt us.  I think this year's team is able to do that.  I also wish this game could be played at home, but I think we can overcome home field advantage.  Big game early on, go Dutch.

Loras defense needs to get stops and get the Luther offense off the field or else their offense will go long stretches without getting onto the field.  Not only will the defense tire as the game develops, but the offense won't get a chance to get into a rhythm and also suffer.

I think we will probably see a close game like we did last year.  I would give Luther the advantage right now due to the game being played in Decorah.

I think a lot boils down to location and opportunities around campus (internships, job opps, etc).

Ask Curt Menefee how valuable his internship at KCRG was.

Way to go Coe today.

Well scheduled bye week.

Get ready for conference play.
I tried but he won't return my phone calls. He did write me a nice poem though... he titled it, "Restraining Order"

RESULTS are posted on the pick-em board.... don't forget to put your picks in for the games this weekend!

I should be 100% on the pick-em's.  I think it is time to stop picking again.   ;)

2 big match-ups this week. DBQ vs. Central & Warty vs. Simpson. Big implications to the conference race right off the bat.

It looks like warty may still be trying to get a few things figured out, while Simpson is relying on their high flying O. I think I gotta go with Simpson in this one as they were the wart killer even when they weren't very good.

The Central/DBQ one is much tougher to diagnose. Both teams have distinct strengths and weaknesses that just so happen to be the others weakness and strength. The only result that could surprise me is a blowout by either team. I see DBQ chucking it all over centrals DBs while the Dutch LBs and dline get a couple sacks to stop a couple drives. I see centrals kicking /punting pinning DBQ deep a few times, but again, their O will negate a lot of those. Should be a hell of a game.

Thoughts?

A favor to my friends in Iowa (It's been a while since the Johnnies have given me occasion to visit these boards):

Oz daughter #1 loves fashion and would love to become a designer one day. She's entered a design in a 'Witchery' competition (Australian fashion store). The five entries with the most votes become finalists. To increase her chance of winning I'd really appreciate it if you and your friends/family would vote for her. It's really easy. Just click on the link below' and vote. Thanks!
