Thanks for the views on the fumble everyone.  It doesn't matter as every game has questionable calls and Central had so many other mistakes of various types to have won the game if they had been on their game.  I only asked because I was curious as to if the call was really that close or if it is seeing what you want to see.

I agree the unsportsmanlike conduct is very unlike Central, but not sure if it was really unsportsmanlike or calls that could have gone either way as late hits or roughing the passer, etc.   Hard to tell when you are not seeing it.  Either way, the timing on them kept UD drives alive and us in a tough position.  UD played flawless ball and deserved the win Central defense rose to the challenge though and kept us in it despite the penalties.

Results are posted on the pick-em board!  Fun weekend of football!

Nice job on the Central website.  On the page where they have the Central/Dubuque write up they have a picture of Central playing Loras  ::)

I am wondering if you have watched UD this year  ??? Because to say they played flawless football is anything but true. Bradshaw (QB) probably had his worst game and central's WR's weren't the only ones that dropped or should have caught passes. They played very well at times but far from flawless. I would give the Defense a A-, Offense a C, special teams a B and coaching a A. I think that averages out to a 3.1 GPA. Flawless would be 4.0. You can think that UD played flawless to be able to beat central but that is just not true. I'll let you know when I think they play a "flawless" game. If we played flawless, we would have scored 4 TD's instead of 3 field goals and 1 missed field goal while in the red zone.

Yeah, and was pointed out, that was a pic of Central vs Albion.  Chalk it up to a long day, together with a few beers, and the fact that over  the past few months about 5-6 times while talking to someone that has an IIAC connection I mention I went to UD and they reply with something along the lines of 'oh yes, that Loras College sure has a beautiful campus' and that all got the better of me.

Still, if done properly, one can still point out a flaw in another schools website...even if their favorite school doesn't have a great one.  So there you go.

Now, time for me to start thinking about Luther.  Dare I dream of a 3rd straight shut out for my Spartans over the Norse?

Luther/Loras score really surprised me to be honest and I agree that Luther COULD pull an upset but I don't think Luther fans should get too excited thinking they are a contender yet. Loras is so one dimensional that if you are a team other then Rockford, you should be embarrassed to get beat by them. Luther, although improved, is going to get brought back to reality real fast real soon  ;D

Not down at all.  I think Luther will be the team that throws a wrench into the conference title race.  I just don't want it to be this weekend is all  ;)

What Coach Hafner has done in a short period of time deserves a lot of credit and is something that is happening quite a bit under the radar.  Again, I'm all for the Norse winning a lot more games this season.  Just please not while I am in attendance at my schools homecoming game ;D

Please, don't let this be me this weekend...

Not down on Luther. Very improved and I think the triple option offense is going to be fun to watch. All I meant was Loras is not a good measuring stick and of course was pointing out Luther's next opponent won't be so easy a test  ;)

Based on nothing but my fanaticism, I have decided that it is time for a couple of Central guys to have their "break out," games and get the team rolling the way it ought to be.  And there is no better game to do it in than against loathsome Simpson.  So just to set the tone, how about this?

Once a week a guy comes into the Simpson president's office and makes a large donation to the college.  The President says to him, "The college very much appreciates your generosity but I must ask, what is the source for all of this?"  The guy says, "I'm a gambler."  And the president says, "Well don't you ever lose?"  And the guy says, "No, I never lose a bet.  I always win no matter how outrageous.  For instance, I'll bet you $500 you have three testicles."  The president scoffs so the guy says, "Okay.  I'll come back here tomorrow with a witness and we'll count and if you don't have three testicles, I'll give you $500."  The president doesn't like being involved in such an unseemly business but the college needs the money so he agrees.  The next day the guy shows up with another guy, and conducts a manual exam, hands over the $500.  The president says, "So you finally lost."  And the gambler says, "Yeah but I bet this guy a $1,000 that I could have the president of Simpson College by the balls by noon today."

On another note, I was surprised by 2 games today. Coe/BV and Luther/Loras. I honestly felt simpson/wartburg could go either way but Coe/BV tells me that BV is definitely much better then their record shows and Coe I believe has a IIAC conference champion hangover. I think they are missing some pieces that make them vulnerable this season.

Coe hasn't been scoring this year like they did last year, but the defense from a distance still looks good.

Let's see how many IIAC wins B.V. puts together.  They should be in a lot of games.

Luther is not a contender with a limited roster, first year coach, coming off an 0-10 season, etc., etc., but they are 2-2 and could easily be 3-1. ;D  It has been since probably 2008 or 2009 that the Norse are doing better than expectations.  It is fun to watch the Norse running the ball well and playing some defense!

Can Luther recruit for football well enough to at least get the roster back to the size it was 7-10 years ago?  That and some coaching might get things back to the 6-4 seasons again in the future.

Loras 7......Luther 41

Interesting to me that D III (Pat and all) predicted that this game would determine the success of the season for the winning team.  Scores are no measure it seems but Loras struggled offensively throughout.......Currier, (Loras RB), didn't live up to his previous stats of  +200 yards in two previous games.

Luther (old school football) ran up the gut and pitched outside.  Nothing new to option FB.

Prediction.........Norse might be a spoiler in the IIAC race this year.  Who knows what will happen when this coaching staff has time to recruit.

BTW "notion"........Norse new enrollment is 668.

This number is slightly up from the last few years, but how much does enrollment numbers really change at Luther?  I have never worked admissions for Luther and honestly haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn since 2009.

It seems like Luther's total enrollment has been around 2,500 more or less for years.

Haha this guy ^^^

If you want to use a grading scale analogy think of it this way. Since there is no such thing as a "perfect game" we'd need to grade on a curve. With the curve, DBQ was probably a 3.7 (missed FG and dropped passes drop it down). Getting held out of the end zone is more a testament to the opposing D and less about bad offensive execucution. Dutch on the other hand would get a 2.9 (penalties, dropped balls, and a horrible turnover)... In the end they're lucky they were in the game.
