Thanks for the views on the fumble everyone.  It doesn't matter as every game has questionable calls and Central had so many other mistakes of various types to have won the game if they had been on their game.  I only asked because I was curious as to if the call was really that close or if it is seeing what you want to see.

I agree the unsportsmanlike conduct is very unlike Central, but not sure if it was really unsportsmanlike or calls that could have gone either way as late hits or roughing the passer, etc.   Hard to tell when you are not seeing it.  Either way, the timing on them kept UD drives alive and us in a tough position.  UD played flawless ball and deserved the win Central defense rose to the challenge though and kept us in it despite the penalties.

I am wondering if you have watched UD this year  ??? Because to say they played flawless football is anything but true. Bradshaw (QB) probably had his worst game and central's WR's weren't the only ones that dropped or should have caught passes. They played very well at times but far from flawless. I would give the Defense a A-, Offense a C, special teams a B and coaching a A. I think that averages out to a 3.1 GPA. Flawless would be 4.0. You can think that UD played flawless to be able to beat central but that is just not true. I'll let you know when I think they play a "flawless" game. If we played flawless, we would have scored 4 TD's instead of 3 field goals and 1 missed field goal while in the red zone.

Haha this guy ^^^

If you want to use a grading scale analogy think of it this way. Since there is no such thing as a "perfect game" we'd need to grade on a curve. With the curve, DBQ was probably a 3.7 (missed FG and dropped passes drop it down). Getting held out of the end zone is more a testament to the opposing D and less about bad offensive execucution. Dutch on the other hand would get a 2.9 (penalties, dropped balls, and a horrible turnover)... In the end they're lucky they were in the game.

Actually, since I did not "grade" central. I would as follows:

Defense= B+ (held potent offense to 3 out of 4 field goals inside red zone, dumb penalties knocked them down from A-)
Offense= C- (bad read by QB led to pick six, dropped passes, turnovers)
Special Teams= B (nothing really great/ nothing really bad so average)
Coaching= B+ (nothing negative on central just think strategically, Coach Z & staff made some great calls)= Cum GPA of 2.8

I think the score reflects that. UD's defense played really well. But, that was the worst performance by the offense all season. Missed open WR's, dropped balls, etc. You can say what you want and I agree Central has a great defense but we should have scored at least 2 more TD's instead of field goals. Now, Central could have probably scored 2 more TD's also so bottom line....

The end result would have been the same and it would have been a hard fought battle. The key difference to the game was turnovers and undiscplined play by some of central's players. Wow, it's nice to say that after so many years of hearing it in the past!  ;D  ;D

I think Willie and notlongago both have it right.  Both teams did some good things, both teams did some bad things.  Missed calls out there for both teams as well.

Now onto the next game.

I hope all of the Dutch bring their "A" game against loathsome Simpson.

Me too, I would be fine with both UD and Central winning the rest of their games  ;D

Does Central archive their coaches show?  I will be at swim team and dance lessons tonight and won't get to listen live.

Haha I bet you would.

The Simpson game scares me. Another potent offense on the road (and Simpson always seems to take the "rivalry" much more seriously). Being as how it's week 6 and the Dutch are still making week 0 mistakes could bode very well for simpson.

I'd take central at home, but being on the road against this team....could make for another "what-if" for Cental leading to fans merely being concerned with the continuation of the "we've been, at the very least, average for 50 some years" streak.

Yes, we do.  Go to rdo.to/krls - click on the "menu" button, then "on-demand".  It should be posted later tonight, takes a little while to archive after we wrap up at 7:30.
Listen to Central College football on 92.1 KRLS, www.kniakrls.com and the KRLS app.

Going to be a tough game for the 76 members of the Norse Football roster.  Hopefully they can hold up as not only do they get to face an ex-Norse head coach in Coach Durnin, but another coach that was a finalist for the same hire (Coach Zweifel).  Maybe the Spartans can hire Coach Hefty just to pile on some more. :D  I hope Zweifel didn't really want the Norse job at the time otherwise there might be a bunch of years of getting our face rubbed in it for that decision.  Anyone that could win at Yankton College and Minnesota-Morris is just a very talented coach.

I think the more interesting game this week is whether Simpson or Central fall to 0-2 in the league.

I remember the Central-Simpson games well in the late 1980s and into the 1990s when Coach Williams turned Simpson around and had the big OL and stud RBs.  Central was Central and was always the conference team that everyone wanted to watch when they came to town.

No, I haven't watched UD play football this year, but here is my definition of UD playing flawless football: they didn't fumble the ball, they didn't throw any interceptions, they didn't have any blocked punts and I'm a Central fan, so I couldn't care less how many passes they dropped.  On defense they stopped Central's running game and only blew pass coverage when we dropped the ball anyway, well except for our first TD.   ;)

Now, I will say that Central's defense played very good football except for the unsportsmanlike conduct calls, which I don't want to say too much about, not having seen the game.  For some reason, my computer will not allow me to watch the broadcast.  They guys at Stretch Internet cannot figure out why, I sure don't know why, but if anyone has any advice, please let me know.  Back to the subject at hand, the Central D contributed to the UD offense not having their usual success in the red zone.

Luther/Loras score really surprised me to be honest and I agree that Luther COULD pull an upset but I don't think Luther fans should get too excited thinking they are a contender yet. Loras is so one dimensional that if you are a team other then Rockford, you should be embarrassed to get beat by them. Luther, although improved, is going to get brought back to reality real fast real soon  ;D

Now, time for me to start thinking about Luther.  Dare I dream of a 3rd straight shut out for my Spartans over the Norse?

Why so down on Luther?

Not down at all.  I think Luther will be the team that throws a wrench into the conference title race. I just don't want it to be this weekend is all  ;)

What Coach Hafner has done in a short period of time deserves a lot of credit and is something that is happening quite a bit under the radar.  Again, I'm all for the Norse winning a lot more games this season.  Just please not while I am in attendance at my schools homecoming game ;D

Please, don't let this be me this weekend...
I don't know, I thought UD threw a wrench into the conference title race.   :( :( :( :(
