Week 7 comments....watched on Vidio

Simpson so exciting with overtimes.  Last gasp does it.  QB should be MVP !

Surprised that UD was so sluggish but give it great credit to Knights defense.....a bit of a surprise.

Central are winners no doubt.  Norse shot themselves in the foot, back and knees once again.  Can't win with mistakes like that.

BV still is a commer.  Will finish better.  A very good team!

Not to everybody!!   ::)

It was to me after seeing the Norse play both teams.  Wartburg got it done though.

Congrats to Simpson as the Storm win was probably the outcome that was the closest to shocking as I keep waiting for Coe to pick it up as the year goes on.

Central beating Luther is not a shocker!  It also was not shocking that Luther had more turnovers and was worse in special teams than the Dutch!  That has happened a lot in the last 40 years. :-[

Maybe the Norse can win in Pella in 2015!

I guess why I was not suprised is that since I have been following Wartburg which I admit has been about 10 years the rivalry game between Luther and Wartburg is always a battle and I don't ever remember it being a blow out.

Wartburg very seldom blows another team out in the IIAC and rarely gets blown out in the IIAC.

That is why I was not suprised.

There is no doubt that people should assume that Wartburg will be in each and every conference game.  They have earned that.

Luther does play tough agains the Knights most seasons, but they haven't run the ball or moved the ball as well as this year (in my memory) since around 2005 or 2006.  As I posted last week, it was also the chances the Norse had for explosive plays this year.

Dubuque scored at will against the Norse and then followed that up with what they did to Coe.

So was I surprised that Wartburg was in the game?  Nope.

Was I surprised that they won and that Dubuque only scored 15?  Yep!

Former D3 regular poster, Lance Harbor, notified people via facebook that Wartburg's win at the U of Dubuque on Saturday guaranteed the Knight's their 21st consecutive winning season.  That is college football's 6th longest current streak.  The Knights will probably never catch up with Linfield.  Their current streak is 58 seasons.

Will they show replays? Stats?

Don't get me wrong in that I have always loved to watch games in Kinnick Stadium, but I have seen some of these Big Ten stadiums change the scoreboards every five years and yet the stats rarely are shown in some places and replays that you really want to see are rarely shown.

It seems like the stadium scoreboard upgrades help more with pregame stuff and advertising.

The bigger deal to me for some of this arms race stuff to me is that Wartburg is still investing dollars in baseball, football, track, etc. and that Dubuque has gone from perhaps the worst facilities for sports in the IIAC in the late 1990s (Coe and Billy Penn were brutal as well) to something much better.  I never would have thought in 1995 that in 2013 the Spartans would be building an indoor practice facility.

I don't want field turf at Carlson Stadium for Luther Football, but an indoor practice facility to be hooked to the Regents Center sounds good to me! :D  That and new grandstands for baseball and softball, new press box for football, and permanant bleachers for the opposing fans in football seem appropriate for a school with the resources that Luther has.

The scoreboard can stay the same if they do some of the other upgrades.

Regents consider Floyd's wishes tomorrow

So, what was the result of this meeting???

Hey Pat ...

I like the new look of d3football.com.  Well done.

Floyd in Iowa City

Congrats to the Norse men's soccer team for finding a way to share the IIAC title with Loras and Wartburg after taking down the Knights. :D

It is not my favorite sport out there, but it is good to win league titles and give yourself a chance to win the all sport trophies.

Norse Football needs to win a couple games down the stretch here to get some points towards the all sport trophy.

Review of the Central loss.

I have enjoyed the UD Coaches Show every week but this one was probably one of my favorites. Wins are easier to respond to then a tough loss. One of my favorite leaders is UD's President Bullock. He is a man of strong conviction, has vision, and has survived some of the most difficult adversity any president of any college has ever had to face. But because of his vision and leadership, UD was led to the amazing university it is today.

I look at Coach Zweifel in a similar way. He's probably one of the smartest football minds I know but more importantly, he is passionate and his coaches and players respond to that. You can tell by listening to senior linebackers Dustin Sorrentino and Austin Hughes. As Coach Z said, we can't control last Saturday anymore, the only thing they can control is how they react and respond to last Saturday.

I am looking forward to a great team response in Indianola against a talented Simpson team this Saturday.

I wish more schools from the Iowa Conference had these pre and post game interviews like Luther and UD.  I will admit that this is the first time I clicked on one of the links that DLD has provided and I watched Coach Zwiefel's interview and he is a passionate coach.  I can tell it really bothers him that he has not been able to beat Wartburg yet.  I believe there is a real rivalry between him and Coach Willis, they respect each other but I don't know how much they like each other.

I think we can expect great games between Wartburg and Dubuque for years to come if these two stay with the programs.

Does UD archive the interviews from past seasons anywhere?
Win or lose we still booze!!

I am not sure, I just started watching them this year. DDog will be able to tell you I am sure. All of this years you can see on the right once you click on the link.

If you go to http://client.stretchinternet.com/client/dbq.portal#

Click the "on demand" button and click "football" for the sport I think it will have 2012-2013 football games and the coaches shows on there.  I think once the 2013 season ends, the 2012 content goes away.

You will get the commercials and all that jazz that the youtube channel cleans up and you don't have to sit through.  I don't think the youtube channel put the coaches shows on from last season, but I haven't looked.

Luther has been doing this with all of the sports teams for several years now and I have watched my share of baseball, football, wrestling, and basketball shows.  It really helps when there is a coach who is both good at what he does and shares information (getting specific).  Coach Mitchell with Luther Wrestling and Coach Zweifel both fit that description.

I like the formats with Luther too where it is 5-10 minutes and I can watch while I eat lunch.

So, what was the result of this meeting???

Regents divided on: 1) drop athletics and concentrate on music and requiring Greek of all students
or
going to NCAA D II with Upper Iowa, their long time nemesis.

Will decided in summer meeting.  Bets are on music and Greek.  ;D ;D

I have no idea how this rolled, but D3 coaches losing their job mid-year is disgusting.  I sure hope our good friends at Loras haven't dropped to the level of USC and that this was a personnel decision.  These coaches are not getting paid millions per year nor are they working with the Okie State booster club.  Most of these guys are pulling in 50-100 student-athletes to pay $35,000 per year so they can be on a FB team.  Our institutions of higher learning should be above that fray for the duration of the season.
