Listening to the Pella Dutch game and I didn't realize until now that Pella's undefeated football team was such a Central legacy of former player's kids.  It is like I am listening to Central during the Schipper years.  Hope that bodes well for Central down the line.  Pella is winning 14-0 with1:55 left to play.

I hear Wartburg has packed it in for football after the loss and has moved on to wrestling.   :) :) :)

It would be nice to see the knights lining up in punt formation a lot on Saturday so the hometown boy can shine!  The other team's punt formation has been such a nice setup for Central scores over the past few games.  It would be nice for Larson to have a spectacular day.

Central coach's weekly radio talk tonight will only be online as the Pella Dutch will be trying to reverse last year's playoff loss to Williamsburg and that will be on the radio.  Hope that pipeline goes from Pella to Central as opposed to letting the good ones not only get away, but into the enemy camp!

Okay, all together now, get in practice for Saturday, "BLOCK THAT PUNT!  BLOCK THAT PUNT!"

Showing my age here, but as Sargent Carter would say, " I can't hear you!"   ;D

I believe the 1st tie breaker is head-to-head and the 2nd tie-breaker is the Rose Bowl rule.

Obviously, in a 2 way tie there will be the head-to-head game to decide things.

The Rose Bowl rule comes into effect often in a 3 way tie when the 3 teams each finish with 1 loss and they each went 1-1 against each other.

If there ends up a 4 way tie this year with 4 teams at 5-2 we would see head-to-head decide it.

For the sake of argument, if Central beats Wartburg and BVU beat Simpson this week, Dubuque wins out, and then either Central or Coe go 5-2...

Central or Coe would be 1-2.  They would each have a victory over Wartburg but losses to Dubuque and Simpson and would thus be eliminated
Dubuque would be 1-2 with a win over Central/Coe, but losses to Wartburg and Simpson and would thus be eliminated
Simpson and Wartburg would be 2-1.  Simpson with wins over Dubuque and either Central/Coe but a loss to Wartburg...Wartburg with a loss to Central/Coe but wins over Dubuque and Simpson

With Wartburg and Simpson at 2-1...Wartburg would get the playoff win based on their win over Simpson in the head-to-head.

But then again, after all that writing, I am probably wrong.

If that plays out, we would have an off-season of Wartburg fans telling Central/Coe, Dubuque, and Simpson fans that they weren't really conference champs this year, because Wartburg was the playoff representative and therefore the TRUE conference champ...much grumbling and back-and-forth jabs would ensue  ;)

That was a lot of work ddog- thanks!

I hope UD wins out of course but since they have no hope of playoffs I am cheering for Simpson. I think they will be the best representative for the IIAC and best chance to win a playoff game.

Klompen

DDog, that is just way too much thinking.  We could make it easier by having Wartburg, Simpson, Coe and Dubuque have end of season meltdowns.  Central would be happy to represent!   :) :) :) :)  Though if the best we can bring to the table is 5-2, it could signal a fast exit from post season action.

I have a sneaky feeling Simpson is going to represent the IIAC this year and win at least their 1st round game.

Central will lose 1 of their final 2 games.
Wartburg will lose to central but won't lose to Loras
Coe will win out
UD will win at least 1 and hopefully both of their final games
Simpson will win out.

That leaves Simpson as champion all by themselves with Wartburg, Coe, and possibly UD tied for 2nd at 5-2 with Central finishing 3rd at 4-3. Followed by BV, Luther, Loras.

in this scenario Central is 5th not 3rd...and why pick Wartburg in the pick'ems and Central here???

Interesting projection. Fun reading how posters see their respective conferences shaking out. And the IIAC is wide open right now, so it's doubly interesting!

At 2 losses, it's somewhat likely Simpson would have to go on the road. Assuming they are in either the 'West' or 'North' bracket and receive a 4 to 6 seed, which of the teams currently in the hunt would like to see Simpson play or think they'd be favored to beat?

Simpson week was a bust so I was going to try to stir up some trash talking with the Wartburg gang.  Except that it doesn't seem to make much sense to talk trash when your team isn't doing any better than the Dutch have for the last couple of years.  Anyway, I am hoping the Central offense opens it up a little more Saturday than it seems they have so far this season.  If they could make a couple of trick plays work and complete a long bomb or two against the Warts I would feel better about a kind of dull season.

That's what I figure. Except for the first round game nonsense. The IIAC will draw the WIAC champ or Bethel.
I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends. They're in my head.  I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you!

Great win against the burgerburglars last Saturday.

Love my Kohawks!

I agree that whoever represents the IIAC is going to face a tough first round road game.  It is not with out merit to think that a IIAC representative could make a deep run or upset a higher ranked team on the road, both Wartburg and Coe have done so in the not too distant past.

2008 Wartburg playoff run on the road =
     WB 26 - UWSP 21
     WB 30 - Monmouth 28
     WB 17 - UWW 34

2009 Coe playoff =
     Coe 34 - Saint Johns 27
     Coe 7 - Saint Thomas 34

The IIAC has laid a few eggs in the first round as well but we won't post that info.

I want the Knight's to win and represent but will support whoever the IIAC rep is.

Correct, I meant if all others were tied for 2nd, they would be next best but 5th is right. Well, hoping to motivate central in pick ems to beat wartburg and writing how I hope it shakes out here  ;)

2008 was a very salty Wartburg squad. They gave UWW a very good game.
